BMW Car Club of America worth it?

I noticed a few E90post members have joined BMWCCA. Is it worth the $$$? What benefits do y'all use the most? The Roundel magazine and the local meets seem cool. Thoughts or comments?

If nothing else, the money you get back after buying a car is worth it.

Roundel is an excellent publication, and the local chapter stuff is pretty cool, too. There are other bits and pieces (such as discounts) that make it worthwhile as well.

Spend the money.

Nice discount if you buy a new BMW. I think a CPO from dealer gets one too.

Dealer parts discount.

There's a Friends of BMW directory that lists members all over the country who are willing to help out with tools, a place to work on your car, meet-n-greet, even a place to stay if you need it while away from home.

Not positive but I believe membership is required to participate in any BMWCCA auto-x, hpde, driving school, race school, etc.

The local chapters have a number of social events throughout the year. Some sponsor BMWCCA Club Racing race events. Some have BMW corrals at pro race events where members get special parking and often do on-track parade laps in their own cars.

I've been a member for almost 9 years.

Roundel is a great magazine with plenty of pictures and information that you might not get from a forum alone. There are many BMW CCA Local Chapters that have a lot of workshops and stuff to learn about maintenance and stuff for your car you can attend. I just became a member and have not had a chance to utilize this stuff, hopefully soon though!

As long as the local chapter is close to you, do it. I was a member of the Gulf Coast chapter, and all their meetings were over 2+ hours away in Alabama so I never went. I might rejoin when I move.

I went ahead and joined up with the Rocky Mountain chapter ... Hopefully it'll be a great way to meet some other folks in the area who love their cars as much as I love mine.

Magazine is good. If you go to some events, you may meet some cool folks. Personally, it has saved me $1000 in new car rebates so I'm happy.

I just joined and my chapter is so fun. This weekend we did an engine swap for one of the members in one day!

I've been a member since high school. Obviously I like the magazine but the chapter activities (driving school, autocross, etc.) are a lot of fun also.

If you decide to join, please use my member number 36024 as referrer.

Well worth the money. Get the Roundel Magazine, membership in the local chapter included, national and local driving schools and events, etc., and if you're a member for a year before buying a BMW, you will get a rebate for $500 or more depending on the model purchased.

Use my member number 399169 as a referrer if you decide to join.

The rebate is a good deal, but only if you're a member for longer than a year before taking delivery. I joined, but then decided I didn't want to wait a year for my car just for $500. To each his own.
Roundel is a terrific magazine. The tech guides, columns and other bits are fantastic. I don't know any of the writers, but as is common to all good writers, I feel I do know them.
If you're close to a chapter, then it's an even better reason to join. When I first joined, I was about 4 hours to the closest chapter, since I've moved, I'm about 2 hours away. Still not good, I don't make it to events, yet, but the chapter newsletters are great as well.
There are member discounts for certain things, my parents live in Western Carolina, and there are hotel discounts in Asheville, that's a big plus.
If nothing more than belonging to an interest-club, I feel it's definitely worth it. I signed up for a two year membership, I'll be renewing at the end of the summer when mine is up.

Let's see...
Nice magazine every month, great technical support for repairs that I have done myself, two $500 rebates on new cars, an E36 Oktoberfest raffle prize worth $29,100.
I would say that it's worth joining.

I think it's worth it for the parts discount and roundel subscription. In addition, the car control clinics can be fun.

obviously I'm biased as its the largest car club in the world and the most active. your local chapters though are the key; its always nice to have people around who share the same enthusiasm.

my chapter happens to be the largest in the US (and prob the world), but the people who help run the events make the experience worth every penny. we have a significant amount of people who do NOT have a BMW, own other marques (Porsche, Mercedes, etc), and they'll tell you the same thing.
