Treadmill vs. Indoor track

I ran a 14:45 two mile on the treadmill sunday night. I have to run on an indoor sport complex track wednesday @ 7am in under 16:36. I am worried I won't make it.

Variables:

Treadmill is easier on the legs (but my legs are pretty tough anyway)

Treadmill also restrict your stride more because you have to stay in a little box worth of space

Treadmill keeps your pace better but I also have a grader telling me my time each lap

Indoor track I am told has very dry air, but is it similar to gym/treadmill air? It is a multi sport complex

It is 16 laps, they say a lot of turning will hurt my time.

What do you think I will hit for a time? Should I bother worrying? Dammit!

Can't over stress it brotha. . .Let your muscle memory take over. . .

1) Get a good night's sleep
2) Be Hydrated
3) Stay with someone up front (pace them)
4) Don't over think it.
5) It's running, all it is is fast walking
6) Repeat #4

can you wear an ipod or mp3 player? I strongly suggest running to some music. . .It's the only thing that gets me through a run >1mile.

Nope, no music allowed with the Army PT uniform.

Can't foresee what your time will be, but since you've been training on a treadmill this whole time, its probably better for you opposed to running out in the cold! Good Luck..you'll be fine!

btw..the air should be the same...well the gym might be a little more moist b/c of all the sweat and whatnot

I will have to re-take it and I won't get my scholarship contract until it is passed. The key here, I have to do push ups too so if I go all out to pass my push ups and worsen my shoulder I may not have another PT test in me until it gets fixed (too long). So I am hoping I get it right this time. If it were just a matter of me taking it again, oops fell short then I wouldn't be stressing, it's the fact that this may be my last horah until my shoulder gets fixed. If I pass it now, I can not worry, get my shoulder fixed and be dandie.

Good luck man. Get it done. When you start to feel tired, think of all the reasons why you need to get it done and you will succeed.

The indoor track is $ - much better than running outdoors. Ask them to raise the corners for you so that you can go faster, it's pretty cool. The air is fine in there.

Anyway, I'm sure you'll be ok. You stress out way too much.

GTFO! It's personal preference I suppose but the turns on an indoor track are pretty tight and hard to angle in on.

Yes, indoor track air is similar to gym air.

dude - Good luck - Eat a light Pasta meal tonight and a light breakfst (or none)tomorrow morning.

I've heard that to simulate outdoor running, incline the treadmill a couple of degrees.

I wasn't clear - when I meant better, I mean the surface he will be running on is better than concrete or asphalt. Soft and springy.

The turns at the track he'll be running on aren't so tight as to effect someone only needing to hit 8 minute miles. "No excuses, play like a champion."

over 8 mins per mile is a really slow pace. You must be in pretty bad shape IMHO.
