Thinking they want to make sure they sell less M3's, get under CAFE, and make those of us who can afford an M more special........remember, M3 owners don't have friends, so we need some exclusivity to make up for it

One thing I don't remember being translated from the German article:

They mentioned the 335i having a Horsepower boost from 300 to 355HP

That is the nice thing about turbos for the factory. Strengthen the engine internals a bit and turn up the boost, and you have the "sport" version.

(Don't think you are going to get the same reliability if you turn up the boost (chip the car) yourself).

Here is the original article (if you read German).
http://www.autobild.de/artikel/auto-...mw_596920.html

They mention a performance package (Which I assume was like the $3900 performance package on the old 330 mentioned above), while the articles in English (which seem to spawn from CAR magazine) assume this would be called tti. That is probably not a bad idea from the marketing perspective.

I'm wondering why people here are reacting so negatively (idiots???) when (other than the name) this isn't much different from what BMW did with the previous model.

(by the way, a debadged car is a lot more fun than one with an AMG or M badge. I enjoyed confusing the sh*t out of BMW 335i owners while I was driving what looked like a 1.8L Audi, that was impossible for a 335 to out accelerate. The car was in fact a debadged 325HP S4. They never did figure out why they couldn’t out accelerate a 1.8L Audi! It was all I could do not to put a 1.8T badge on the back of my S4 (although in the winter 16” snow tires was enough to confuse almost anyone).

When I think of tii, I think of the new European 320si, which is much more in spirit of a tii (high reving 4, better brakes, suspension, lighter, not as much sound dampening, carbon fiber engine cover, etc). Something like that in a 1 series would be a lot more in the tii spirit
