Adblue Standards

Evening all,

I need to fill my motor with some Adblue. I brought a few litres that meet the 22241 standard but in iDrive, it says I need 22241-1. Net says something about the -1 refers to the storage requirements. Before I blow up my engine! Anyone shed some light on this?

I have noticed this too and plan to get a couple of 10lt Redex Adblue containers to keep in the garage which are 22241-1 ISO compliant.

Garage List
I use the stuff from Halfords. 43,000 miles later and no problems. It says 22241 certified. It's manufactured by Yara

From their website:
Yara's AdBlue product is certified according to ISO 22241 (ISO 22241-1, ISO 22241-2, ISO 22241-3).

The revisions are to the testing methods.

Official ISO information

So you should be fine with what you've bought.

It could hardly "blow your engine up" given that minute quantities are sprayed into the exhaust just down from the cat. I throw any old shite in mine that the haulage yard down the road kindly donates for looking after their dog. Never had an issue.

I use the Redex stuff in my X3, although I do keep getting Adblue system failure warnings come up! They are just due to a software update required though apparently.

Last week on service had my done, idrive was showing I can add 8 liters after 12 liters to brim it was still showing that I can add 1.5 liters few days before service.
Software wiped off all my data from car: trip distance, consumption, lighting set up and done reset on engine and gearbox (first 200 miles was strange when driving, till it learned again).
