BMW Remains 3rd Most Valuable Automotive Brand of 2013 According to Interbrand
26
COMMENTS

BMW is the 3rd most valuable automotive company in the world (and 12th most valuable of all companies), according to Interbrand's Top 100 Brands list for 2013. Interbrand is a leading branding consulting agency.

BMW retains these same spots from last year's 2012 Interbrand List. Toyota and Mercedes placed right in front of BMW, in the 10th and 11th spots overall.

For the methodology that Interbrand applies to come up with its list see: http://www.interbrand.com/en/best-gl...thodology.aspx. The major criteria used are Financial Analysis, Role of Brand and Brand Strength.

Toyota make good solid cars, I think it deserves to be the top automotive brand.

Mercedes, not so sure, I think they are not as great as they once were, but IMO they are still the best in the full size luxury sedan (S-Class), and doing great in commercial vehicles.

Overall, I'd say Mercedes brand should be more valuable than BMW if you count their commercial vehicles, if just passenger vehicles, than BMW before Mercedes.

Well the methodology doesn't only include market cap but the fact that Toyota is world's most valuable automotive company at $202 billion (BMW is at $52 billion currently) pretty much guaranteed it is going to be number one.

Besides passenger vehicles, Mercedes produces commercial cars, semi trucks, etc. However, their value is only $65mil more than BMW? I expected more than that. I bet if BMW did the same, their value would be miles ahead of the brand with the three-pointed star.

Props to you, BMW. Now just make a proper supercar for us enthusiasts, then we won't hate on your other more eco-friendly cars.

its about how many they sell, not whos the best toyota sells more because their cars starts around $15k and up and Mercedes is about their commercial cars (sprinter van and s class being used as a personal taxi)... But look at the bright side AUDI has a long way to come up hahaha

Yes Mercedes and Toyota make trucks and that makes them more popular, but for us, car drivers of 21 century, BMW is one i will chose every time!!!
Mercedes' value is $31.904, and BMW $31,839.....
all those trucks and minivans and first in everything brings it right next to the company that only focuses on driver's cars and SUV, kinda disappointing for Mercedes!!!
Considering that BMW Doesn't really have a supercar yet, I am ready to bet that if bmw comes up with a supercar like R8, it will beat Toyota and others

Well, more people know Coke and McDonald than anything else (people need to eat)

Much fewer people know Cisco ( not everyone knows networking)

Hope you get the point.

Respectfully, I can't agree with you on Toyota... there's not a month that goes by here in Canada which we don't hear about massive recalls for faulty components...Toyota & even Lexus!
I agree with you on the M-B though...it surprises me how they've been able to hold up despite their crappy models and cars in the past few years...
I think M-B is now focusing on exterior design more than before which is positive...however, they have COMPLETELY missed the boat on interior design...you would know what I mean if you take a look at their all new CLA dashboard design! Their new E's exterior design looks ok (rear very much copied from BMW horizontal design!)

But you are certainly right...M-B is banking on their heavy duty vehicles and that's where they make money...leave that only to their cars, and they'd be eating bimmer's dust from miles away!
anyways...it's always a disappointment to see BMW behind M-B!!!

Sadly I'd say they're well on their way to addressing those changing needs...

Different studies/reports will have differing outcomes.

For example, Forbes named BMW the world's most powerful car brand in May of this year.
