Thumbs up M3 Chasing down a few Corvettes -- Good old track fun

NASA Florida Region event at Sebring International Raceway, weekend of March 29-30th 2014. Saturday was a complete rain out, puddles of water on the track, quite a few incidents during races. Sunday was much better, kept having trouble with my GoPro corrupting video, so only have about half a session. Which also has my fastest time through .

You'll see allot of hand motions, had a first time passenger, it wasn't me complaining.. lol, just explaining what's going on at the time (while it's safe to do so).

Nice videos thanks for posting. Side question, is oil temperature read out correct? If so, is that normal during track days?

It's correct, and yup, that's about right for normal track days.

Nice work dude. I dig the front view/rear view camera thing you have going on.

That vehicle lineup in front of you in the first vid -- looks like fish in a barrel.

Why didn't you take the point by immediately when granted on your fast lap??? Yikes...

How are your tires and pads holding up

OP, that was one great video!!!

Please let me know what you used for data on the video. I'm using Harry's Lap Timer, but your data with the M3 dashboard is awesome!!!

Complete detailed set up would be great. Thanks.

Thanks! Camera's mounted with a CruiseCam headrest mount. I'll detail the software and setup below.

It sure seemed like it, but it made for great video of picking off vettes

Thanks man! They were fish in a barrel, was allot of fun reeling in as much of them as possible . I was going to take it, but accidentally hit the rev-limiter on 2nd coming out of the turn and lost a bit os speed and the passing line, so I waited a bit to get back on the inside at the next corner.

Pads are holding up, tried the Cobalts this time around, I really like them, will probably use them again. The pagids were great, but I like a bit more aggressive initial bite, just what I'm used to.

Thanks!

The video setup is:

1) GoPro for recording (wifi enabled to start recording at the same time, makes synchronizing video much easer).
2) AIM Solo-DL with CANBus for data recording, GPS, lap-times and everything else you see + allot more.
3) Audio Technica Condenser Microphone, makes the video better if you have the right sound.
4) Dashware to overlay the video and data
5) Adobe Premiere to do the multi-camera front/rear work

What Cobalt compound?

Was joking on immediately taking the point by. Looked like an invitation to exchange paint or mow the lawn to me.

I'm scurred of Sebring. High speed, bumps, walls.

I'm using XR1 / XR3 combo, seems to work great, not sure if you noticed from the video, I caught just about everyone under breaking.

If you're quick enough, there's plenty of room to take the pass, but better to be safe than sorry. I take that point by as a "take it next turn" most of the time.

Why you scared? Sebring is awesome, loads of fun! The bumps are all part of the fun, makes is "interesting".

Hey yandy, always love watching your vids. Where is your mic mounted to get that good sound without all the wind noise?

I mount it on the center of the rear bumper, above the exhaust and run the line back through the trunk to the camera. Tape the microphone with blue tape to the bumper so it doesn't move.

I was the guy in the orange Vette that you picked off a couple times :-). Great driving.

I figured out what happened in that spin on 17 - my antilock brakes went out, I downshifted and tapped the brakes at the same time - you can see the wheels lock up on one of my cameras.

You're making me want to bring the M3 out next time. I'm going to be at the PBOC event next month, I think they still have spots open...
