Post's per day (PPD's)

Hi mods,

Is there a way you can incorporate a field by our user name's that include your average post's per day (PPD)?? It's a counter that shows your activity since your join date. I think it would be really cool and help guage who are key content contributors on the board.

Thanks!! Mac :rocks:

It's in the profile of each user.

I don't think it's how much people contribute that matters, but more the quality of their contributions.

Generally yes. However I think it's a cool metric that can offer fodder for more light-hearted discussions.

BTW I should have edited my post to include that it is in the profile.

Hmm, I think 50% might be a little optimistic.
You can't click a post in the off topic section these days w/o hitting one of your random posts. (WTF no face?)

Yeah, I don't think you can go by quantity of posts to see who really contributes. A high number can often be misleading, especially from the literal explosion of posts in the off-topic area (I'm guilty here, too).

Of course, I always try to stay as helpful as I can whenever I see a question come up that someone needs help with. I'm pretty much done with questions about my car, at least until something goes wrong (which I hope never happens) but you know, it's good that I've got a place to turn to just in case.

Take me for example. A lot of my posts are ranty, and many are just to make sure someone knows he's an idiot (a futile battle to be sure).

Don't know how Fleet does it, but he stays out of the scuffles and remains strictly business. He's the man.

BTW - If I got back all the posts that Mark deletes I'd have 15,000. Mark doesn't like me very much.

On other forums, they mods set it up so that the posts in off-topic areas don't count toward post counts. It helps cut down on the amount of crap posts that don't offer any real information.

Quality > Quantity

I rather have one smart, cute girl than 100 sexy looking hoes.
ok, bad example.

Alot of forums don't count off-topic posts as post counts.
I think thats ideal.

That was what I suggested a couple of posts up. I set up a poll to see if others feel the same way. Go here to vote.

Yes, many times my posts are deleted. Usuallly because I am telling some newbie what an idiot they are. IMO if you're going to post on a forum with established members and make ridiculous remarks you should get flamed. I would expect no less on some other board.

But often, Mark will delete my post while letting the asshole who started things keep on posting.

Don't know why I'm telling you this, it will probably get censored!

Haha, no worries Ledzep. Many a time I've started to pull the trigger on posts like that and just closed the window before hitting reply.

The people on the board are eager to start new threads rather than search existing ones and not many people seem to care so I've decided I don't either.

Yeah. I even got flamed once for telling them to do a search.
Especially new ones coming in, it seems more younger people have joined the forum and things are getting a little violated.

Mods are holding up for now. Im sure they will take different action if traffic becomes worse to the point where they can't manage it. Then additional junior moderators/helpers can be real helpful. I just don't want this forum to become one of those lame forums out there, where good senior members all leave and 16yrs old newbs take over the site. I know this won't happen though. Jason/mark won't let it. or at least hopefully. This is the best forum for E90 out there. I even got banned once for advertising E90POST in e90fanatics.com.

The problem is that the annoying members can't be banned simply because they're annoying.
