Got it. I am inviting a few people (or letting them know). If I come out (will know for sure by next week) anyone from the metro detroit area that would want to caravan the morning of, I am down, just let me know.

Seriously... I semi-joked with the old track manager Josh that I was going to rent the track in the dead of winter after 2-3" of snow. It would be a blast with proper tires.

Haha. My stay in MI was short-lived this summer.

When the track weather moves down south, I'll be here in FL. Will keep in touch.

Do they even open on days like that? That would be a lot of fun. It would for sure help your reaction and handling skills on top of getting to know your car better!

I recall doing a drift event a few winters back in PawPaw MI and it was a blast.

Not sure. Old mgt is out I guess. Just got an email update in the last few days, so not sure if new would entertain or not. Probably. They're not particularly busy that time of year.

1:47 - 1:48 is a good stock time.

1:45 - 1:46 tires + brakes.

1:42 tires + brakes + Clubsports

1:41 possible with some fresher rubber I think...

Look forward to getting back out there next month with all of you guys.

Definitely dude. Look forward to meeting you. Would be happy to give a ride, and/or go lead follow. I've put in too many laps at this place to not have learned something.

I've used this organization once before for an event -- http://www.ontrackinsurance.com/index.aspx

Typically these groups will only offer coverage for organized, recognized events, but you could give them a call.

Not that I'd ever try to talk someone out of insurance, but been to Gingerman? Really there's one wall on the outside of turn 11 and then down the front straight that could be hit. Field runoff other than that. See video above. It really is the best track to learn, and work on car control.

And if it rains like it's supposed to everybody will be driving around like grannies in a parking lot. Long dry spell, track will be rubbered in, so basically an ice surface equivalent. Should be fun, slow, and occasionally sideways.

No reason whatsoever to push it. Go as slow as you like, and stay within your comfort zone.

You'll be fine and rain or shine it's a blast. Happy to head out with you first session, and you can grab a ride with me. Find me per specs in my sig. With 100% rain looks like I'll be leaving my track wheels home though...

Be sure to bring towels. they'll probably make us run windows down as usual.

Just put the street tires back on. Not a lot of dry in that forecast!
