New BMW's hood design !? Something Wrong !? (Discussion)

Hi Guys,

Any one think that there's something wrong with the new BMW's hood design!? We can see that new models have a new hood design which separates the emblem area from the hood. I think IMO there's nothing nice about it . . . Its just makes the grille go lower and make the front end ugly!

I just love the current E90's hood design which is linked to the grilles!

Am also not a fan of the new flat front grills and bumpers design in the current models! Even if the pedestrian safety legislation in Europe require cars to have a 3 inch clearance between the hood and the engine components, they just can do better than that flat front grilles and bumpers!

I like the E90's and E60's front grille design . . . Its just sleek!

It's a question of taste, I personally don't dislike it. What I dislike however is when people write "grill" instead of "grille". Grills are used to cook burgers and steaks on.

I agree about the Z4, Its the only model that have a perfect match between the headlights and the hood lines! Also the Z4 headlights is the only one that not lowered from the edges!

Actually it has more to do with the new EU laws for pedestrian safety--- higher hoods thus influencing the design of the vehicles.

Looks horrible! Only car you can sneak it off on is a black car, but on lighter colour car's it looks terrible in my opinion.

This is a huge problem I have had with the new designs. The roundel and grilles included as part of the bumper doesn't look right. Moving the line of the hood up so far looks mega odd and detracts from the look of the front big time.

The moment you said you liked the look of the pre-LCI e90 grilles, you lost all credibility.

I recently purchased an X1 ... haven't found BMW's particularly attractive in the past ... but the current styles really appeal to me ... each to their own I guess

I said "current E90 grilles" not pre-LCI e90 grills!

I don't like the front end on any of the new models. It looks out of place from the rest of the car.

Sorry but I still contend that the hood/front end of my iS constitutes perfection.

On the new 1 series hatch it's the ugliest damn thing they've ever done, but it's not just the hood or the badge, the entire front is fugly.

Definitely. My wife would love an X1 but the front end is just wrong. Maybe the next gen...
