C7 z06 coupe-3,524 1/Z trim

Fully loaded z will go over 3,600 pounds, that is my guess.
Even though it is going to be a monster, i am beginning to think that its not going to be that much faster than c6 z06 that is about 500 pounds lighter..
New z will be very expensive car to track considering the size of those
tires:285/19 front, 335/20 rear(unless wheel conversion to 18in will be possible).
So, we just have to wait and see for on track tests next year, but that weight is very dissapointing for sure.
Well considering its rumored to already beat the ZR-1 around a track which handled a C6 Z06 I wouldn't worry too much about it. GT-R are heavy too.

idk why people complain about the cars weight. its still going to be a great performance car, and look really nice. personally i wouldn't want a truly light weight car. comes a point where you want the car to have little beef on it. for safety and looks.

This car more than compensates for the supposed heavy weight. I think it's brilliant. And for its price, you cannot fault it.

The C7 Z06 is as far away from C6Z as the C6Z was from the C5Z, which is to say A LOT.

It will make the C6Z look silly in most any situation. 3,500-3,600lbs is not heavy for a 650hp sportscar IMO.

Have you driven any car on the race track?
I have, many times, many different cars. Let me tell you, that extra weight is a big enemy for any car that is trying to go through corners at the limit.
C6 Z06 is one of the fastest stock cars in the world if driven properly(at the limit). C7Z06 is going to be about 500 pounds heavier. That is a lot of extra weight to carry around even for the superior c7 suspension design compare to c6 platform. And too much power is not as important on the technical road course as much as other aspects in this game.
Thats why i said in my previous post that i dont think new Z will be much faster than c6 z06. We just have to wait and see.

I can take any Z06 in my stock M. I meant from December to March. Well at least in the rain and snow.

Also depends on where that 500 is located. The weight is honestly the biggest drawback I have about getting an E92. Unfortunately, rumored successors to the RX7, Supra and S2000 are years away. Everything I read about the new S2000 (or whatever its going to be called) has me drooling. MR platform that is a turbo 4 (out of the CTR) with possibly electronic motor awd and sub 3300lbs.

Expensive relative to what?!? Other 650hp+ super cars? Are you kidding me?

If you can afford the $100k price of entry, a 2500 set of tires isn't going to break you especially since you not only get a track warranty but the other consumables are much cheaper than the competition.

Agreed. A fellow tracking a Viper ACR told me it costs him $4000 per weekend, all things considered.

Race Consumables (gas, tires, pads), hotel, truck gas, entry fees etc. Being the fastest guy on track does come at a price.

Yes it is heavier, but the quicker times will come from the sum of all its parts.

GM officials have already stated the C7 Z06 delivers faster lap times than the out going ZR1. So I don't see it having a problem with the C6 Z06, unless they are lying. The ZR1 was almost 3 second quicker around VIR than the C6Z with Z07 package.

I would imagine the new Z06 will have a lap time comparable to the Nismo on the Ring. More HP and Torque and lighter weight too.

Who knows really. With Nissan, I don't think they are very forthcoming about the real car specs. That Ring special was the Nismo, with some additional magic Ring package, plus who knows what else. Personally I am convinced it makes more power than advertised.

I think the philosophy of the GTR is to maximize grip and traction in order to chase down lap times, all else be damned. With cars like the Vette, RWD 911, M3 etc they are set up to be more interactive, and the lap times come as a consequence of the balance and inherent goodness.

Ultimately it doesn't really matter if the lap time will be 7:20 or 7:15 or 7:10. It's still stupid fast, and when I drove on the Ring my main worry was not to end up in the evening news, not my lap time.
