Still learning about cleaning leather - I've been using Mother's cleaner and conditioner.
Can the same swissvax process be followed on a steering wheel? Previous owner had some sticky mitts. |

From Wal Mart....Lexol cleaner with soft shoe polish brush and Lexol conditioner once cleaner is dried. Perfect factory Matte finish, doesn't leave sticky residue. Ive used it on everything interior except the headliner even on my steering wheel. Awesome product at a fraction of the cost compared to Swissvox and other brands.

No. The seats are coated in a thin urethane so that bleeding shouldn't happen.

I use Einzett Ledderfledge Cleaner/Conditioner. Single step process and I get the same results as you would from the Swissvax products mentioned here. Smells great as well.

great recommendation. people seem to forget not all of us have time for leatherique even though it is a great product. i use sonax leather foam. it's a 2 in 1 product and does exactly what it is supposed to. the griots recommendation was good as well

Try using the regular leather cleaner. Also, take a look at the colourlock product line. They are the suppliers for Swissvax interior products and its a fraction of the cost. Been using both brands for years Some of the SV products are simply relabeled colourlock items. For instance, elephant fat, the leather brush and even the dye bottles |

I have used Chemical guys, Zanio, Leather masters, Swissvax and Leatherique.
Leatherique is the ticket and will restore the matte finish Avoid Swissvax and Lexol

I think alot of people forget that pristine clean can be used as a stand alone product to clean, condition and protect...
leatherique rejuv. oil imho is for old, really dirty and neglected leather. leatherique pristine clean works amazing and fast as a stand alone product. Leather masters strong cleaner works great aswell, but make sure the type of leather you have and buy accordingly.

I have the same stuff but I find the Leather Masters 2 step works a lot better and leaves a more matte finish. The 1Z Einzett leaves a shinier finish than the Leather Masters.

Condition = good in my opinion, only had 14k miles. Drivers and passenger seat resulted in the same. Swissvax followed up on Friday to state that comments from the factory are pending. Swissvax stated that my seats may have been repaired at some point; however, after review of a variety of photos at different angles that was is not the case. They are the experts in my opinion and I trust their judgment. I can say that I have used mothers cleaner and conditioner for the past 6+ years without any issue, including the E90 M3 (first week of ownership); many new and used cars with leather (RS4/335i/135i/S4/A4/A3, etc). Also, immediately after use of swissvax without issue. I decided to try swissvax because of the DIY videos and the matte finish performance. I will probably continue to use mothers unless someone presents a compelling argument otherwise. Last edited by drexplode; 09-13-2014 at 08:55 AM.. |

I'm not new to leatherique, I've been using it since the 90's when I had my 95' M3 and I haven't seen anything better. Bentley's hide food is good stuff also

Got any pics? Honestly, it may just be the dirt that collects on the leather.

I want to clean my car's leather interior (fox red). Now, I know my driver's seat had a small repair by the dealer. Is this something I should be concerned about before I go ahead and do swissvax or leatherique? FWIW I used the BMW leather product with no bleeding but I'm worried that using another product will essentially undo their fix.
