The Charger Hellcat
So this exists in addition to the Challenger Hellcat. 2.9 0-60. 11.0 1/4 mile on street tires and 10.7 if you put street legal drag radials on it. Detroit is coming back in a big way.

I hate to be that guy, but I'd wish the Charger came in a proper manual. Regardless, this car is awesome... love the looks and performance. I think it looks better than the Challenger.

I'm that guy too. Very disappointed it doesn't come with a manual gearbox. But a (very, per the article) streetable family sedan that can do 10.7 on street DR's is something that leaves me in awe. I can also personally vouch and attest to the touchscreen center console and bluetooth in the outgoing model. Best in industry by far. The interior left something to be desired, but it wasn't horrible either.

i dont like the Challenger or chargers coming out.
IMO they dont look that great inside and out. the challenger looks the same for years now. i cant get over those skinny tires they use on these cars either. the cars are pigs, no matter how fast they are. I cant see them feeling that great to drive. i am moving to a Detroit car most likely (the corvette) because to me thats a real sports car. So i am not on the BMW fanboy wagon. its my honest thoughts. |

You would be in the minority in your view of what is proper. 10 years ago or earlier, that kind of statement made sense. Today, good autos are faster than manuals and get better fuel economy. Ferrari has not made a manual for several years now. This is a performance car; the manual is no longer the performance option.

You are correct on the Challenger Hellcat; I think it should have gotten a face lift. The Charger looks like a giant Dodge Dart to me, but regardless, you cannot dismiss the power these things are putting down from the factory. |

But that's for another thread. I like this way more than the Challenger to be honest. Pretty cool car, not really something I see myself owning though.

+1. I understand PDK/DCTs are better on the track but I really just find them boring around town. I prefer 3 pedals and a manual tranny but I know its days are numbered.

There was a time when power steering was not for performance cars, when power brakes were not for performance cars, when ABS was not performance oriented, when traction control was not for performance, etc. If you want to be fully occupied while driving, try a manual trans cars from the 60s.

What turns are you speaking of? The straight-line grid system that are the Detroit suburbs?

why would people buy a car that is less reliable, less value for money, more maintenance costs, expensive to mod, and not DIY friendly. Because there must be something about the cars that people find appealing. Me I can understand why would someone would buy a hellcat and i can understand why someone would buy a M3. it makes perfect sense. |

People have various reasons for buying what they buy. Your assertion that those new muscle cars are inferior to german cars in everything except horsepower is just false. |
