New Posts selection problem

I use the New Posts option atop this page to look at the new posts. Most of the time I get one to two pages (sometimes three pages) of posts. However, lately it more frequently selects only 5 or 6 recent thread postings. This is very frustrating, because I would like to read more, yet do not want to sift through the entire forum menus.

So question #1: How "new" are the new posts? i.e., how old does a post have to be before it no longer shows up under New Posts. I am NOT interested in looking at just the posts that are NEW for the past 15 minutes.

question #2: Is there any way for the user (e.g., me) to define the "newness" of posts (say, under personal settings) that should be included under New Posts. In other words, if I could, I'd look at all the New Posts for today (for instance).

"new threads" are defined by cookies and not by any period of time. So basicly, if you login and and you read a message, its considered a READ mesage and no longer a new one.

If you leave your browser sitting on the forum for a while, it will mark all threads as read and start a fresh.

So basicly the new threads are defined by weather you've read them and not by any time period. Unfortunatly you can't modify it to do it based on time, but that would be a neat feature.

I hope this answers your questions ?

Thanks for answering that. I wonder what would happen if I were to clear my cookies, and log back in.
