Some Weird Shit on my new car
Picked My 2008 335 up about a week and a half ago and some weird shit started happening like the title says. About 2 nights ago when I went to turn my car on it took a long time turningover id say probably about 4 seconds compared to the normal 1 second start. I asked a buddy who has a e90 and he said not to worry about that i was probably holding my figure on the starter. Then last night it did it again and i am sure my fingure was not holding down the starter. Then i just went to try to start it this morning and it did it again only it didnt start first time i tried it again and it started just like normal instant almost. Wtf. It starts its just taking a abnormal amount of time. I guess i was wondering what you guys think it could be and i have a sad feeling im about to have to take her in any insight would help alot thanks.

I've had my car for a little over 4 months, and just started experiencing this 2 days ago. I took my car in today and waiting for the results. More likely than not, I'm assuming it's a fuel pump issue. It can also be from the gas you filled in your car.

I feel for you too buddy...it's very ridiculous that we have to deal with this issue considering we're paying so much for these cars. The company's ignorance of this issue is turning me off from ever buying another BMW again.

Before you stress out, go through a couple tanks of gas. If it continues you probably have a fuel pump problem. If it ceases, bad gas.

I'm don't know the specifics of the fuel pump issue, but is it under warranty?
PITA to bring it to the dealer to replace, but do you get a BMW loaner? If not, find a new dealer. Replace fuel pump, not a big deal, is it? I've always skipped by the HPFP threads, since I drive a 330. |

I'm with COUCH. Try a couple more tanks and verify first. Better to cover your bases than have to wait for the dealership to say the same thing.

The delayed start you are experiencing is called "long crank."
Its usually associated with a insufficient supply of fuel (or bad fuel as previously stated) and/or irregular powertrain calibration. Try starting your vehicle a few times and note when then long crank occurs. ---In that, does it only occur on the first start and not the second, third, etc...Does it only occur when the vehicle has sat overnight? things along those lines. AND WHEN THE DEALER TELLS YOU THAT THEY CANNOT REPLICATE THE PROBLEM, DONT FREAK OUT! BE PATIENT AND TELL THEM THAT YOU HAVE LOGGED THESE ISSUES AS TO THE QUESTIONS ABOVE. THE MORE DEFINITIVE INFO YOU CAN GIVE THEM THE BETTER!
