well I am searching for the same thing and if it is posted properly here it will hopefully serve someone else in the future.
Just trying to contribute. Why are you lurking round posting on this thread and it is dead and you have nothing useful to contribute?

Hey guys, two questions:
1) What is the part number or how do I find the appropriate screws/fasteners for this cover? 2) Which one is "LEFT" and "RIGHT"? Is left the driver's side/port side, and right starboard side? Just want to make sure Thanks y'all! |

I just replaced my "RIGHT" side which is the passenger side. "LEFT" would be the drivers side.

Sorry for the inane question, all the parts diagrams show the left parts on the right, and vice versa Just ordered one. Now I need to figure out the fasteners/clips. Last edited by Craigy; 11-21-2013 at 01:44 PM.. |

Per BMW after sales training PDF:
IT has a picture with the underbody panelling including what looks like this portion and states... Other underbody panelling The underbody panels have been optimized to ensure the best possible vehicle aerodynamics and the maximum possible cooling capacity for the driveline components. http://www.e90fanatics.com/pdf/BMW-M...nformation.pdf |

Whether they serve a function (I am assuming they do) - or not, is for me irrelevant. I just hate the unsightly look of them once they are damaged.
I just replace the left and right and center module this weekend as they were cracked when i bought the car.

The screws are common across most models it appears. I ended up getting them off an ebay auction with these search terms and they were a perfect match: "bmw screw 4.8 X 16 mm" They're the black screws with washers attached. The clips I believe are already attached to your replacement part. If they're missing then you might have some luck on ebay etc. I can't imagine they would be M3 or even 3 series specific. |

I read back through this old thread, found a lot of questions about what these engine bay EMI insulation pieces do (other than aerodynamics). "EMI" is electromagnetic interference. These "felt" pieces are carbon impregnated and serve as part of the shield for radio frequency emissions leaving the engine compartment and also for preventing RF interference from disturbing sensitive circuits (Eg. CANBUS) in the engine compartment.
During development, cars are measured at an EMI test facility to determine if they meet the various requirements for radiated high frequency noise and also their susceptability to external signals. I suspect the 3-series cars failed some tests without these added shielding parts. Last edited by Beemdog; 09-22-2014 at 08:08 PM.. |

Hi,
Ive been looking for the PN of these flaps pieces in front of front wheels for my 2011 335 IS C (it comes with the M package ) without success. Any idea what they might be? are they in the drawing of below link? (I don't recognize anything that looks like flaps) http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts...60&hg=51&fg=75 Thanks in advance! |

I have proceeded to taking mine off underneath my car along with everything else under the motor. While some people have been telling me I could be throwing off the undercarriage aerodynamics, I have seen a drastic Decrease in oil temps while operating intensely. Longer to get hot, quicker to cool down.
