Rare cars you’ve driven

For a bit of fun.

I’ve been lucky enough to drive probably a couple of thousand cars, most run of the mill but I’ve driven a few rare ones.

1932 MG J2
Triumph TR5
Passat W8
Lotus Carlton

I’d also go with my Z4M Roadster, I’ve only ever seen another one!

I got stuck in an Z3M 'clown shoe' and an AC Cobra (genuine, not a Dax etc) if that counts

Dunno if this counts but I drove my uncle's Aston Martin Rapide. Don't think I've seen one since, but quite hard to spot as the rear doors are quite hard to see, so just looks like any other Aston from that era.

5.9L V12 - was cool to have a go in, but only really came alive after 5000rpm and was quite muted. Actually felt a bit slow until the higher RPMs. All in all it was a bit underwhelming if I'm honest.

The Honda Stream 7 seater with the supercharged K20 in it was a lot more fun!

Owned one of the very rare beasts that are the E92 Alpina B3.
Also owned a quite rare 1986 Lotus Excel.

Driven many rare cars, as when I first went self-employed (1993) I did air conditioning work on cars (and had to test drive them once done of course). My fav was a 1985 white 911 Turbo. I did drive an original GT40 that I worked on but it was horrible.

Here is the Alpina (not got pics of the others TBH). Looking back at the pictures, I really should have kept that one!

Now wait for a barrage of photos from 'Bobba'.

Some great cars on here but none as great as my early 1960s 2CV which I owned in 1980/81 whilst living in France. Rare? Well, not really, but it was the only one in the village at the time 😂

No pictures of my own, unfortunately, but it looked something like this...

Most of what I drove when I was young will be rare now...but probably the rarest was an Alfa 75 as nobody bought them!

Note to self - must try to drive some rare cars!

Had a 1936 Ford CX Tourer Deluxe for a while, that’s about it I think.

Fairly rare? Delta Integrale

I am so old that I was invited to the launch of the GPz900r in 1984 at my local Kwaka dealers. I was only 17! Never owned one, even now.

Me too.

Citroen AX GT wasn’t rare at the time but are rare nowadays.

Owned a SAAB 93 Turbo X, which was a limited production vehicle.

Didn’t actually drive them but sat in a Hanuu Mikkola’s Mk1 Ford Escort RS1600 that won the 1970 London to Mexico World Rally, a Ford GT & a RS200.
