UK mapping in Next Europe West 2024
Is anyone using Next Europe West 2024-1 and find it rubbish? I spent 45 minutes or more driving around to get it installed this evening, the headunit restarted and told me the update was successful. But then I drove back home and once I was off the M1 at junction 24 (I'm in the UK) the roads pretty much disappeared and the programmed route back home was aborted. There are pretty much zero roads displayed within about 5-8 miles of my home.
Is anyone else using this map and found that the coverage is far worse than previous versions? Can the map version be downgraded? I still have the USB drive with an older version on, can I just plug that in and install the older version over a newer one? edit - so, uhh, you can't delete threads and hide my shame. Apparently I can't read, and I somehow installed Europe East. Which seems to include just enough of Europe West to include some major roads i.e. the M1 I was on while the update was happening so I thought the update had worked, and only broke down once I left the motorway and got a little "off the beaten track". Reading, folks, I should try it some time. Last edited by gac; 04-18-2024 at 03:23 AM.. Reason: I'm an idiot. |

I did wonder if you'd installed Europe East, since that will only show major roads in the west

Yeah, bingo. It was only when I went to take a picture of the version before downgrading, figuring it might be a bug and if I knew what version wasn't working I wouldn't waste time upgrading to the same one. And then it obviously said East on the display and this time I read it and took it in and it all made sense. It just so happened that I was driving up the M1 towards the A50 when it completed so everything looked normal until I got to the Derby turnoff for Raynesway and everything just vanished
