My ideal BMW garage
Here's a fun exercise: What would be your perfect stable of BMW cars?
I'll start: I currently have (1) a 2021 Porsche Macan GTS which is wonderful but let's say it got stolen or totalled tomorrow; (2) a 2022 BMW M3 Sedan with manual transmission; and (3) (because I live on a small farm) a 2022 Honda Ridgeline Black Edition medium-duty pickup for utility duties. Leaving aside the pickup, if I (won the lottery and) could have the ideal stable of vehicles, here are my picks: 1) M550iX Sedan in Aventurine Red with Mocha Nappa leather (if I were feeling financial pressure, a similar 540ix Sedan; if I wanted to splurge a bit, X5 45e M Sport in Manhattan Green metallic(?) with Coffee Merino leather) 2) M3 Sedan just like I have now, except change Portimao Blue to San Marino Blue metallic 3) (This is where the lottery win really comes in) M440i Convertible in Tanzanite Blue II metallic with Tacora Red leather 4) The same pickup mentioned above It would be tempting to have an E46 M3 in the stable, but that would have to be a once-in-a-while driver and mostly just to admire. How about you?

I haven't kept up with the Z8 market, but I suspect that a Z8 is a fantasy all by itself!

1.) An M3 Comp xDrive for yanno, sport sedan things, tracking, etc.
2.) An X7 M60i for yanno, SUV things 3.) A chevy or ford truck for yanno, truck things 4.) A Honda civic (or maybe chevy bolt) for yanno, everything else Literally perfect garage. It does it all, and more importantly, each has a purpose, and each can also do some of what the others can. What more does one need? Why get a lambo, when you can get all those vehicles |

We have a 21 Cayenne S, 18 M5, 99 M3 Turbo, and 75 2002. 4 cars is really all I want to maintain. If money was no object, I’d change the Cayenne S for a Turbo (almost bought a GTS but my wife said it sounded like a truck) and add a 991.2 or 992 Turbo. I’d have to put the E36 or 2002 in the garage at another house.

Interesting responses -- a lot of folks like what they already had or have and then there's the Z8 -- what a car!

With the exception of the 7er (suitable for nights at the opera) , you've got BMW ///M pretty well covered there!

G31 M550iX Touring as above (does a M550iX even exist?) G81 M3 Touring, but with 473 hp (480 PS), 6-speed manual and RWD Which is the only way that a Touring-loving American can accomplish that goal -- a magic genie!

Here's what my fantasy BMW stable would look like. In this fantasy none of them leak oil or coolant though
Daily: G12 Alpina B7 Pre-LCI Wanted to include at least one modern BMW on the list, but had to go Pre-LCI purely for the grills. Practical Hauler: E53 X5 4.8is Was between this and an E39 540i Touring, but in the end the specialness of the 4.8is trim won me over. Classic: E9 3.0CS A hard pick, but one of the most gorgeous BMW's ever made. Gran Tourer: E64 M6 6MT Cabriolet Had to find a way to sneak a V10 in on this list, and who doesn't love a screaming V10 with the top down. Track Car: E30 M3 Evo II No explanation needed for this one.

Being in an urban, two driver household with one child, all our wants and needs are covered by a large SUV, an efficient electric cruiser, and a something relatively small and sporty.
To that end— 1. 2023 BMW X7 M60i in frozen grey (we have) 2. 2023 BMW i4 M50 in frozen grey (we ordered but may convert to the 2024 BMW i5 M60) 3. 2023 BMW M3 CS in frozen black (not on order) Bonus 4. If I had the garage space I'd track down my last C63. |

Hard to narrow it down, but I think these are the 3 I could live with forever.
1) My 2010 328ix - winter use 2) 2008 535i sport, monaco blue over brown - summer use 3) 2001 740i sport, silver or orient blue over black - weekend driver As much as I like the e39 530i, I don't need a second NA 6cyl, plus the e38 has the similar old school feel to it. Maybe one day this dream lineup will become reality |

I'd have... an F87 M2 CS, a G21 Alpina B3 Touring, an E28 M5, an E46 M3 GTR, and a R1250GS Adventure.
Bonus - E39 M5, Titanium silver over Black. My father had his eyes on a 528i when they were new, but ultimately never got one... Always a window shopper. This car would be in my father's garage, instead. +1 to the 2002 Turbo. That's such a sweet car. |

Current garage:
Keepers: E92 M3, F87 M2 Comp, E36 M3, Z4M Roadster. X3 M40i is a company car and will go at some point, but it's a great daily driver. I'm honestly very happy with what I have, although I could maybe see the E36 go for a Isle of Man Green 21-22 G80 M3 6MT if I ever need to have a 4 door. Another car I really miss is my 2017 Tundra Platinum. It was also a great daily/road trip car. Dreamed of having a Porsche one day, but giving up on that.
