I love the concept (idea) of it. I like the headlights, old school front grill, the taillights, BMW emblem on the C-pillar, and the wheels and stance.

That said the first thing that popped into my head (and already mentioned earlier in this thread) is Dodge Challenger. When looking at it as a whole, the shape is definitely too much Challenger. But the details are beautiful.

The interior is interesting with the blend of new and old. It's just a design render of course, and will never end up that way, but I'm not sure about it. I think it would be cool to have a more modernized interior with that classy touch. But I'm no designer and it's easy to be a critic.

Overall it's got my interest insofar as how this develops and if BMW will build something like this.

And, just to balance out the "put a V8 / V10 / V12 / V16 / Jet Turbine Engine in it" crowd ... I'll say, put a 1.5L 3-cyl Turbo in there, slap an electric motor on it, a carbon fiber tub, and make it the i6! (Just kidding I don't really care).

A classic reborn should have an NA BMW i6 though, should it not? That's quickly becoming a classic of its own

A beautiful concept car. I do prefer the "original", but for a modern design this is elegant and simple and has clear lines. I especially love the interior, again, very simple and elegant. I strongly dislike many new cars for all their stupid space pod looks and annoying gadgets! This would be a modern classic with a very recognizable BMW heritage. So, all it needs is a n/a inline six under the hood and I'm in

Fair enough. Then (styling wise) the modern interpretation < the original.

Interesting interpretation. It doesn't convince me totally though, especially the rear lights and the c pillar. Then I'd prefer the front to be based more on the E9, less on the E120. The car could be a little bit wider too. On the other hand, th E9 is my favorite BMW of all time so my expectations are on the highest level. Great job nonetheless!

Interesting that you joke about this because actually, in a way, the E46 M3 CSL was supposed to be a spiritual successor to the E9 CSL.

The E46 M3 CSL was probably as close as BMW ever got to producing a contemporary interpretation of the E9.
If you think about it, from a historical point of view, it was also the last BMW coupe to directly descend (in terms of evolutionary design language) from earlier BMW coupes of the Neue Klasse. Little design cues like the straight-cut, body line running from the headlight to the door handle to the tail lights that runs parallel with the ground & other body lines, the pronounced, rounded wheel arches that contrast from the boxy, straight-cut lines, the window switches on the center console, the rear windows that open (albeit only vented on the E46) & the overall proportions & shape are shared by the "pre-bangle" era.
Remember also, prior to the E46 M3, the now famous side gills were not characteristic of BMWs. It was revived for the E46 M3 as a throwback to the E9.

I like the exterior. The interior needs improvement. Steering wheel needs to be smaller and sportier and the instrument panel could use more gauges (maybe a cluster of 3) just below the screen.

I prefer the new 6er over this.

There's something about it that i like, but the back totally kills it with those Porsche-like tail lights. The belt line is incredibly high, il you look closely the E9 is far better proportioned, and even the front is anonymous and poor designed.

It kinda reminds me the C300, and that's not a nice thing.

God there's so much incredible potential here. I do agree that the beltline is way too high. I understand it's a modern take, but this really should be a pretty low-slung car. I also think the front, particularly the headlight configuration, should look like the 3.0 CSL:

Having the recessed grille and headlights would be awesome. But maybe too much like the new Camaro or Challenger? I dunno, but I'm hoping this becomes a reality. So cool.
