Recommend a spring compressor
I'll be doing a camber plate install soon. I also have some other suspension work backed up, like moving the adjustible spring perches on the Bilstein Sports I have on my E21.
So, I'm in the market for a spring compressor. Can you gentlemen recommend a decent one? I have an impact wrench, if that makes any difference. Thanks |

Harbor freight sells them. I have two sets and just toss the ones the get worn. Worked well on the front springs of the X5 4.4i. Those are some stout springs!

I didn't use a spring compressor. I just disconnect the sway bar, brake caliper and wheel speed sensor, jack up the front spindle, use an impact to spin off the strut nut and lowered the spindle. Voila...pull the spring out. Remove the OE camber plate, bolt in the new one.
Reinstall in reverse. But...I'd use a wall mounted compressor if you plan on removing the entire strut. The rental ones at Auto Zone are garbage.
