Question: Replacing headlamp switch.
What would happen if you replaced a headlight switch which does not have "auto" with a switch which does?
Seach was unsuccessful. |

I think that you would have just installed a head light switch that now has an "auto" function that does absolutely nothing for your non auto light equipped car.
It's gunna take more than the switch to make the "auto" lights work

I figured the 'auto' feature would not work, but what about the adaptive headlight feature? I can't see BMW supplying Xenons with and without that feature.

I can see them having adaptive xenon headlights and non-adaptive xenon headlights. The former cost FAR more. Using the switch, I bet, isn't going to do a thing.

I was wondering about this after I read about the rear fog lamp modification where people just change out the switch with the Euro version. All Xenons are self leveling, and I would be surprised if BMW went to the expense to source Xenons which did and did not have the adaptive feature. It would be cheaper for BMW to just design the feature on the dashboard switch. I suppose I could tell if the part#'s for Xenons were different? Does that make sense? |

REALOEM suggests there's a kit (part# 63130404183) for those w/out rain sensing wipers, but you need the footwell control module (not sure what that is).

If true though, I don't see why BMW would not just activate them in all models equipped with xenons (since the parts installed would be the same).. other than making more money on an upgrade option . |

False. If you have Xenon equipped lights( 06 and above) you have adaptive headlights, in the US that is. Also, your lights MUST be on Auto for the adaptive headlights to work.

I don't think this has ever come up on the forum since most people order the premium package to begin with. |
