[QUOTE=FCX5;30547237]My wife went from a MY Performance to iX and the iX is a much better vehicle in terms of drivability, comfort and build quality. The range is also as good. It is more expensive but you can’t really go back from an iX to MY IMHO. It’s like a Toyota Corolla vs BMW 3 series.

FSD by Tesla is under immense scrutiny at the moment…they’re having major problems. I read on it just today.

True, long ways to go before FSD becomes mainstream

The problem with the XM is very similar to the i8 issue.
A very expensive car with a sluggish performance that doesn't justify the high listed price.
They should have released the Label Red from the beginning and canceled that entry level model, which couldn't compete with Lamborghini Urus Perfomonate and Porsche Cayenne Turbo S.
They really missed the chance to make the quickest M SUV that deserves the M badge only

Forget the Model Y. Many ix owners are former Model X owners who are so glad they got rid of their Teslas for the BMW. And the BMW beats Tesla at its own game with more real world range.

And with that; most of us driving enthusiasts still want to drive ourselves. I personally don’t have any need for a self driving vehicle. I want to experience the feel of the drive with me in control of the vehicle. To each their own. FSD is very dangerous at this point in Los Angeles. I know they’ll find a way to make it safer in the future. (2 cents)

I am the same way, wanting the driving experience - mostly..
But there are times, like commuting chore or tired/sleepy, if FSD worked better/safer, I would consider using.

On bmw sales figures, I think they suffered a lot on supply chain issues last year. I think they still do or changing their supply strategy. Hard to find inventory compared to other brands.

Also this helped https://reprints.theygsgroup.com/cr/...WhatBrands.pdf no doubt.

I am beginning to feel - post pandemic, supply chain issues, they may be changing their sales and marketing strategy, deliberately keeping supply lower than demand to keep price high - in N.A. Porsche like techniques perhaps

Why would LCI be the big reason? Because you don’t like it? lol.

Be ause it is not a big enough refresh. I have X5 and don't mind the LCI. Would I change mine for the new one, no. Why, not a huge change. If the refresh was drastic the numbers would be different.

It's hard to find a X5 or X7 near me. I'd say 75%+ are sold before they even hit the dealer lot. They recommended to purchase an X7 now as BMW will be pushing more i's on the sales floor and continuing to restrict production of X's. Not sure if that's just a sales tactic or not though...

A lot of companies are doing this, because they’ve come to realize it’s better to sell all your inventory at MSRP (or above) and not meet all demand, than to crank out supply that has to get heavy discounts to move. Profitability can be better. And invested capital much lower. Makes for a better stock price.

Ford mentioned they would be keeping inventory much lower going forward. Heck the domestic airlines also have kept capacity restrained, pushing domestic flight prices sky high.

Agree about Ford. When I bought my 2019 F150, it MSRP'd for $60,000. I got it for $44,600. Now one is lucky to get 5K off a F150.. at least in my area.

Now I realize supply chain issues lowered the supply of new vehicles, but firmly believe ford is fine with less sales volume at higher margines.

This strategy is being employed by more than BMW and more than automakers. The strategy has found its way throughout the entire economy. One can see this gouging in the Food chain and other sectors. The Inflation infection. IJS.

I figure the deep discounts on the iX are luring customers away.

Most people couldn't care less about the LCI, especially since most of the changes to the untrained eye are pretty minimal.

I went from a 2021 Model Y Performance to a 2023 Model S Plaid, picked up 2 days ago and couldn’t be happier. No FSD, I drive my cars.

Comparing the iX to the Y is nonsensical. Compare it to the X. And the X has a third row option which is hugely valuable. The base X and the X Plaid are now priced under the iX.

As for the Y, it is indestructible as long as the motors don’t fail like mine did (one of them). Of course the iX has had its own set of failures. After 10k miles the Y really starts to seem crappy. Ride quality is particularly bad over imperfect road surfaces. The supercharger network is a huge plus but if you just want to charge at home it’s a non-issue.
