BMW Enhanced Mobility Program!?!?

Before I post the details of this new program, I would like to point out that this program is complete nonsense. Why would I purchase a 60k vehicle (or however much your car is worth) and pay double for maintenance and not receive a loaner? I believe in purchasing a premium branded vehicle the service and convenience should reflect the value of the product you have bought. As of now, I feel that BMW is doing everything possible, $24.95 at a time to steal its loyal owners' hard earned money. If I bring my vehicle to service, I expect to be given a similar vehicle and NOT be charged for it since I was never charged extra to use my own vehicle in the first place. In addition to limiting the range to 100kms a day, I do that on the highway to work everyday. BMW you should be ashamed of yourself. With that being said, please read the article I copied and pasted below.

--------------------------------------------------

BMW Canada is about to launch the Enhanced Mobility Program. Effective August 1st, 2013 across all BMW retailers, a fee of $24.95 plus applicable taxes per repair order will be applied to all BMW loaners. Customers are responsible for any costs incurred while in possession of the vehicle such as damages to vehicle, parking tickets and excessive mileage.

Auto West BMW is pleased to provide you with an executive alternative which includes a limousine shuttle service to your destination that is completely free. Whichever option you choose, Auto West BMW will always provide you with the Ultimate Driving and Customer Experience.

·BMW service loaners will be available for a charge of $24.95 plus applicable taxes per repair order.

·If a BMW is not available we will supply a rental vehicle at no charge. Clients don’t have the choice of a rental at no charge, these are used as backup in case we can’t provide a BMW.

·All on-demands will receive a rental car for a charge of $24.95 (On-demand meaning 100% of capacity or more, or no appointments slots available), since these are unscheduled appointments and we are fully booked.

·All vehicles will be filled with gas prior to sign out with the client, customers will be responsible for gas.

·Gas charges will be preset for specific ranges. If a client returns the fuel level in one of the following ranges the charges will be as follows. Between full and ¾ will have a set price of $20, between ¾ and ½ will have a set price of $40, ½ and below will have a set price of $80.

·Courtesy cars will have a mileage limitation of 100km per day. .25cents per kilometer will apply to vehicles over allowable mileage.

·All vehicles will not be allowed to leave Canada.

·24 hour return policy after completion of vehicle will be strictly enforced. $80 per day charge will be applied to vehicles not retuned on time.

If it's any consolation I have never been offered a loaner car at any of my four visits to my BMW dealership. When I complained they said they were all taken and that I needed to make my appointments further in advance. When that didn't work they showed their shuttle bus. This thing was so broke I immediately laughed. I jokingly asked if any convicts would be joining us on the trip.

I don't need a BMW loaner. It could be a 2000 Camry with 157000 miles for all I care. It is very annoying having my wife and 2 children drive the 40 mile trip to the dealer only to pick me up and drop me off at work. The shuttle's range is shorter than the distance from the dealer to work.

Good luck, at least you have some options. I'm begging for rides all the time.

I believe many other brands are charging clients for rentals per day. $24.95 per work order/visit for a BMW rental isn't bad.

At BJBMW, you can choose to get a non-BMW rental at no charge, if you don't want to pay the $24.95.

Well at the rate they charge per repair, you already paid for the rental. If I want lower class service I can get the work done for 1/2 price somewhere else...

At the rate they charge per repair. I expect some champagne and filet mignon. Not an extra 30 bucks slapped on for a loaner which is supposed to be complimentary.

First, if my car is in for warranty service then I expect a loaner at no charge and I expect a comparable vehicle to what I'm having serviced. Period. It is totally unacceptable to charge a fee for a loaner car as if its somehow optional.

Second, its a total marketing fail to try and pass this off as an "Enhanced Mobility Program." Its the existing program with an additional fee. More expensive /= Enhanced. Don't try to polish this turd and think I won't notice. If anything it should be merely "Changes to the BMW Mobility Program."

I will be letting BMW Canada know what I think about this and I will make sure I never pay this fee. They make plenty of money off of me as is.

All my old Ford dealers gave me some sort of vehicle if my car/truck was in for service. I think this is complete bullshit that a high class company like BMW would dare charge its clients for a loaner.

Oh, you have to refill the tank now too. Before BMW just told me the gas in the car was for me to use, don't fill it up. Now it has to be brought back full.

Mercedes Benz is doing so much better with loaners and service here. Wanna take a 400 mile round trip while your MB is being serviced? No problem, here's a nice, big SUV you can have fun in on your trip.

I decided to resurface this thread in hopes that it gains more traction among the 3er enthusiasts on this forum. I have since brought my BMW to service/maintenance a couple times and beware that this $24.95 will realistically come out to around $35 due to the extra fees that come along with it. Not sure which ones exactly, I will pull up my invoice and will edit the thread but its along the lines of buying a bottle soda and paying an extra bottling fee etc. Completely ridiculous.

I will be sending BMW Canada an email on how I feel about this, even though one email may not matter I'm sure if we all sent a mass email to BMW Corporate I'm sure this critical issue will brought into light.

I was planning to lodge a complaint with the Competition Bureau. As far as I'm concerned the loaner program is collusion. A group of independent dealers have cooperated to raise the price of a good. The value and harm is quantifiable.

Noticed the original post was from 2013. I guess this policy does vary from dealership to dealership as I have not had to pay for a loaner from my dealership, even on a recent service earlier this month.

Ditto for Bill Jacob's BMW, even on a used Z4 not purchased from then.

I've never had to pay for loaner cars due to servicing from any dealer on any make of car. I also book ahead as there are limited loner cars. I also book servicing on a Saturday this way I can head of with the wife for a late breakfast and not worry about a loaner car or go for a drive in the country side if I do take a loaner.

I don't see the need to restrict the milage to 100kms as most will drive a lot less and over all it will even out but if you have done excessive milage then top the car up with fuel.

Loan cars for servicing should be returned on time as the loner car would have been booked to others so yes charge for the car being retuned after the agreed time.

A loaner car for all warranty work should always be free which no restrictions on milage or fuel usage.

The times I have requested for a loaner, even if it was for a single day, I haven't been denied. Of course, I did have to book in advance (usually 2 weeks). I have also never been charged for the loaner car. I have also taken their shuttle service - the driver was very nice, and gave me his cell number when I needed a ride back to the dealer.

In 9 months of ownership I've been to the dealer a total of four times, twice for a Chassis Malfunction (they identified and fixed the issue the second trip), to replace a tire because I ran over a screw and it was leaking air, and to have my first oil change.

In all 4 instances prior to setting up an appointment, they asked if I needed a loaner and I was given one. My favorite was a 2014 328d station wagon and a 2015 X3 28i xDrive M-Sport.

I like to drop my car off first thing in the morning, get a loaner, drive to work and get my car once they're done in the evening. I've never had an issue and the service department is always extremely accommodating. This is BMW of Silver Spring btw, the same dealer that runs the www.getbmwparts.com website.

The trade off is that I typically have to wait an extra 2-5 days for an appointment if I want a loaner which is fine.
