2015 Model Preparations and Maintenance Changes

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
From BMW SIB 00-02-14: "2015 New Vehicle Preparations and Maintenance Requirements"

New as of 7/14 vehicle production:

All models:
The memory button for the electric seat settings is now marked with “SET” instead of “M.”

All models except Z4 Roadster:
When equipped with Navigation, an advanced version of Real Time Traffic Information (RTTI; option 6AM) provides a new function. Additional route suggestions are offered, highlighted by a “globe” icon in the NAV screen. This is especially helpful when traveling in heavy traffic situations such as rush hour.

2 Series, Z4 Roadster:
The standard-equipment new generation Radio BMW Professional is now equipped with 3G functionality.

All models equipped with optional heated steering wheel (option 248):
An activation symbol now appears in the instrument cluster. This feature allows the driver to immediately notice if the heating is active, without having to look to the activation switch on the left side of the steering column.

228i; 3 Series (except M3), 4 Series (except M4), 5 Series:
For improved legibility, the time display in the instrument cluster has been relocated from the center to the bottom right, under the tachometer.

2, 3, 4 Series:
Servotronic power steering can now be configured using the Dynamic Driving Control toggle switch on the center console, separately from the existing chassis and drivetrain settings.

When equipped with optional navigation and in combination with automatic transmission, predictive gearshift strategy (shift recommendation indicator) is displayed using navigation data when the transmission is being driven in the manual mode.

Radio on/off/volume control knob now has imprinted “ON/OFF” (does not pertain to M3 and M4).

2 Series with optional M Sport package (option code 337):
Low-dust brake pads (non-asbestos organic [NAO]) are fitted, except when equipped with the optional Sport Brake Package.

The heated steering wheel is the one option I wish I had spec'd... Every winter I regret it

Haha. It's such a small factor but makes a huge difference right?!

I wish these things could just be coded for the older vehicles...

Would love the steering heater indicator and the ability to adjust steering feel.

Will we be able to code some of this features with Esys, for the most recent vehicles?

This is potentially huge.. does this mean you can program the steering to stay at say a "Sport plus" setting like Porsche does with their cars? every time you start the car?

The whole steering/different chassis setting is really such a disaster since the F30 came out...

I'm pretty sure you can as long components are flashed with the necessary updates.

Once you have the necessary updates, it's just a matter of changing the build date on your vehicle order and coding the modules.

My 2012 spec'd F30 is pretty much like a 2014 now and I've been keeping up with all the changes so far.

2013 - Added Auto Stop Start Indicator on Instrument cluster
2014 - New Eco Pro display gauges on Instrument cluster
2014 - Launch Control

I'm pretty sure if you get the latest update on car, you can probably get the heated steering wheel indicator and time on the bottom right without issue.

Not an option with the m steering wheel on the e90. I have it now though. Cold leather is no fun in the polar vortex

I recently got my car back from having it coded for the M Performance brakes, now I have a heated steering wheel indicator. I'm not sure if this is the new one, or if the new one is a persistent icon. Mine disappears after about 5 seconds.

I would like to code this: "Servotronic power steering can now be configured using the Dynamic Driving Control toggle switch on the center console, separately from the existing chassis and drivetrain settings."

And also one thing that is not described there, the gps prediction on the sailing feature of Ecopro.

I have a June 14 F32.

Yeah heated seats I got but I thought I wouldn't need the wheel... Am I right in thinking the heating element is built in to all steering wheels bar the ///M?

You mean the burning hot sensation on the wheel after ~2 minutes is not enough to remind you the heating function is still activated?

No, the element is not built into all steering wheels. And you can get it with ///M models, now.

I hate where the heating button is right now, so they essentially moved it and put an indicator too? I need this coded!

As far as I know, they did not relocate the switch, just added the indicator.

I think my 2007 335 would offer optional routes during traffic? I rarely saw it though

It would make sense that the icon disappears after a few seconds to alert the driver that it's on. Interested in coding this too.
