I'd hold off to see some independent dynos (with headers and tunes SEPARATED) before spending any money. Many (e.g. supersprint) have looked into this and found no viable gains.
That said, I would not be surprised if they were moving power rather than making power. As in, on the S54 their mid pipe adds a ton (30rwhp alone) to the top end, at the expense of bottom/middle range. Good for a track/race car, terrible for a street car. I could see them making a racing header optimized in the same way (which there is certainly nothing wrong with, so long as you're buying something appropriate for your needs). Engine out install sounds annoying. I wonder if you could get away with supporting the engine from above and dropping the front subframe. BMW claims you need to remove the engine to swap headers on the e60 M5, but I was able to install supersprint headers in one with that method.

I mentioned to the that they should concider making their x-pipe in the standard size too. All they would need to do is make longer connection pieces from the X to the header flange which is easy. Its a well build and designed piece thats priced right, just sucks it is sized (3") for their headers.

Subjectively, I think it's pretty raspy for me.

I have them on my car. With baselines of the car. And everything in the middle.
These parts made exactly the power they claimed. Around 30ftlbs in the mid range. My car was light on the base line. I track this car and it pulls a Dinan stage 2 car with the same tires and wheels. Basically two spec e92s. BY 5 car lengths at the end of the straight. Install can be done in less than a day in the car. Ask all questions you want. I had mine coated black. Looks great. |
