F16 is not as stable on high speeds as e71

I moved from 2014 e71 50i to 2015 f16 35i. I do not feel safe when I drive fast. E71 seemed more sticky on the road. Turning wheel on high speed was more stable on e71. Rim size same. Tire size and brand same. Run flats. Who had both cars, how you feel it?

I was shocked when I tried to follow the fast cars on the autobahn. My 14 X1 s28i was all over the road nearing 120 mph. It has staggered 8x18 and 9x18 M sport.

Looking at specs the front track is about 1.1 inch shorter, so I put 12mm spacers on FRONT only. That allowed car to top out. I think the ediff was also involved and when I put less grippy ceramic on rears, all the sway stopped.

Just looked up 2015 X6 specs, and the front track is a whopping 2.5 inches shorter than the rears.

Also has to do with hydraulic vs electric power steering I would assume.

E71's wheel was hydraulic. F16 electric. This can cause that f16 is not good enough and stable enough to drive?

Is it shorter than e71's? E71 was 200kg havier. So I thought f16 would be better but I was not right. Now searching reasons, why e71 stands on the road better than f16.

Well I've driven my friend's F16 before, and it does have that weird light steering feedback(probably has a tighter steering rack ratio as well) compared to E70/E71 which are very composed and direct.

I recall reading an article that stated their customers (probably female drivers) complained that BMW steering was too heavy and direct so they took most of that out in the F generation.

the key of the e71 and 70 M as a base option against usual E70 was rear differential with torque vectoring
but int f16 this differential is optional

My f16 is 4x4 too. M packet. E71 was not m packet, was simple 50i. No electric things, no air suspension and so on.

4x4 is not coming with torque vectoring differential by default in f16

How to detect my car has torque vectoring or not?

And I think torque vectoring is not problem in my case. It moves right and left on higs speeds more than e71.
In e71 this option was optional?

I moved from an E70 to F15 2 years back. Both we're similarly spec'd - 50i w/ the V8, M Sport, standard suspension, etc. The E70 felt way more stable and planted to me as well, that thing felt like a tank. Still think the F15 is overall a better vehicle, but I do miss that feeling of better stability and way better steering.

You could do some lowering springs, maybe just something conservative. I did the Eibach pro kit and it reduced some of the bounciness/sloppyness that comes with the stock ride/standard suspension.

the difference between e70 and e71 was made by delivering this torque vectoring differential, so all e71 had this advanced differentiall
and e70 x5m also had this differential
but for f16 this differential became optional, only if owner will order it specially, it will be installed on f16
you can check it's by decoding options list by VIN

G05 X5 is trash as well.

E70 was a solid feeling tank. A product of a bygone era of BMW which will never return.

I think BMW also moved to a more neutral suspension alignment too- due to tire wear

My e82 ate through rear tires...one set a year. My F32 doesn't have that problem but also doesn't feel as connected with the road.

Agree. The E70 was a tank. The F15 lost quite a bit of that. Drove the G05 for a few weeks over the summer and it disappeared altogether. It's a comfortable SUV with plenty of creature comforts. But there is nothing sporty about it anymore.
