Hi

Any reason the iX3 wasn’t considered?

That’s what I chose - has iD7 and a conventional (and useful) centre arm-rest and storage area.

I have an X3M - this is wifes car and she thinks X3 is too big. So was really her choice

By way of an update, after the first 600miles

Range - anything from 150-200mile from a full charge. But we do use pre-heating all the time and lots of short journeys.
Charging - only ever used 3-pin and so far not a problem. Not used the works one yet.
Power - really quite nippy and excels at overtakes.
AWD - really impressed how much grip this has. slight understeer initially and then just digs in. I am talking about coming off wet roundabouts and just flooring it. Really impressive.
Boot space - smaller than IX3, but still enough for 3dogs and some luggage. Some decent space under the floor. Could do with a Frunk though.
Rear space - pretty good for 2 adults (not tried 3)
Climate - Quite smart e.g. decides whether you want heated seats on or not. I do miss the physical buttons.
Driving Assistant Plus - i didnt like it on the X3 i test drove and i am not the greatest fan on this car. It is better than the X3 and, to be fair, works not bad 60-70% of the time. It gets confused too early. It uses Satnav to slow you down on approach to roundabouts but slows down way too much. The autosteering is jerky. I wont be renewing the 3month free trial.
360deg camera - thought i would love this, but its just not as intuitive as a standard rear camera and front sensors. The rear camera turns with the steering wheel and it just feels wrong. I struggle to see the kerbs with the side camera, so rely on mirrors. Front camera just doesnt show how close you are to an obstruction and sometime they just dont come on at all.

The best bits? Absolutely love the pre-heating function, especially in this weather, so much so that i havent yet bought the heated steering wheel.
Most of all really like the electric drive train. It is just a great way of powering a family car. just get in and go - no stalling, no wrong gears, no auto box getting confused. Just instant & consistent power.

Really missing the electric memory seats, tinted glass. Kinda miss the physical buttons but starting to get used to that. Mostly you dont need to go into the infotainment system - just let the car do what it needs to!

Overall, its a REALLY good car. At the moment, i prefer it to the X3M.

The best bits are great! Interesting the preference over the X3M, result!

Any reason you didn’t choose the iX3, OP?

Old tech in the iX3? Wanted a smaller car?

How are you getting on with the iX1 now you’re a few months in with it? Did it come with iDrive 9 and if so are you finding it buggy, or generally ok day to day? Reason I’m asking is that I’ve signed up for the plug in hybrid X1.

We still really like it. Only put petrol in the X3 once since xmas - says something!! Biggest niggle is the brakes - it is in regen most of the time and they are quite grabby at parking speeds.

It has ID 8 AFAIK. Apart from lack of physical buttons, really good too and had no issues. I do miss the touch wheel.

Main issue for most will still be the range which is 150-210m. That said, never had a journey interupted because of range yet.
