--- BMW Motorsport

Walkenhorst Motorsport powered by Dunlop celebrates 1,500th class win for BMW
It is done: The Team Walkenhorst powered by Dunlop with drivers Michael Schrey (Wallenhorst/ Germany) and Emin Akata (Friedrichshafen/ Germany) celebrated the 1,500th class win for BMW since the beginning of recording statistics in the year 1990. The driver duo won with an advance of one lap ahead of the second-placed team made up to Jörg Wisirchen (Euskirchen/ Germany), David Griesner (Austria) and David Ackermann (Döttingen/ Germany). Five more class wins in classes SP8T, V2, V4, V5 and VT2 went to team relying on cars of the make of BMW. Tim Schrick (Munich) and Hannu Luostarinen (Finland) of the team Kissling Motorsport scored their second victory in the Opel Astra OPC Cup class. The fastest Toyota GT86 Cup car was driven by the trio of Dörr Motorsport with drivers Maciej Dreszer (Aachen/ Germany), Arne Hoffmeister (Lutter/ Germany) and Fabian Wrabetz (Bad Soden/ Germany).

With their fifth class win in the fifth race, Rolf Derscheid (Much/ Germany) and Michael Flehmer (Overath/ Germany) in the BMW 325i entered by the club MSC Wahlscheid defended their lead in the VLN endurance racing championship Nürburgring. They are leading ahead of Frank Kräling (Winterberg/ Germany), Marc Gindorf (Monaco) and Christopher Brück (Cologne) in a Porsche 911 GT3 Cup with an advance of 2.32 points.

The results of the 54th ADAC Reinoldus-Langstreckenrennens and the championship standing remain provisional due to protests. The sixth round of the year, the 37th RCM DMV Grenzlandrennen, will take place on 2nd August and run over the distance of four hours

**************************
The winners of the 54th ADAC Reinoldus-Langstreckenrennens are Sabine Schmitz, Klaus Abbelen (both from Bahrweiler/ Germany), Patrick Huisman (Netherlands) and Frank Stippler (Bad Münstereifel/ Germany).
The driver quarter took the chequered flag with their Porsche 911 GT3 R entered by Frikadelli Racing after 2:45:15.791 hours race time in first position. This victory is the third win only in the history of the team based in Barweiler near the Nürburgring, but already the second successful result in the current season. Frikadelli Racing is also the first team to repeat a victory in the VLN series during this year.

The predominance on the podium of the make from Zuffenhausen at the fifth VLN round was completed by Adam Osieka (Meuspath/ Germany), Christopher Mies (Heiligenhaus/ Germany) and Steve Jans (Luxembourg) in the Cup-911er entered by the team Getspeed Performance and finally by Dominik Brinkmann (Dortmund/ Germany), Felipe Laser (Hamburg/ Germany) and Markus Paltalla (Belgium) in the Porsche of the team raceunion Teichmann Racing.

Due to numerous penalties that had to be applied after speeding offences in the timed practice, the scheduled four hours race distance was therefore shortened. The race was finally started at 14:05hrs and the chequered flag came out after 165 minutes so that full championship points will nevertheless be awarded. A 30 minutes summary will be shown in channel Sport 1 on 12th July at 16:00hrs.

Second half about to commence
ADAC GT Masters returns from summer break at Slovakia Ring. Five different super sportscars in Top Five at start of the season´s second half.

The summer holidays are over in the ADAC GT Masters, as the Super Sports Car League steps on the gas again at the Slovakia Ring in Bratislava to commence the second half of the season on the weekend of August 8th-10th. The Slovakia Ring is located about 100 km from Vienna and is where the ADAC GT Masters is heading for the second time after its successful premiere there last year. This is the longest circuit on the calendar at 5.922 km and is one of the most challenging tracks for drivers. Led by Kelvin van der Linde (18, South Africa) and René Rast (27, Germany / both Prosperia C Abt Racing) in the Audi R8, super sportscars from five different manufacturers that make up the Top Five in the standings will ensure an exciting start to this crucial phase of the season.

Key facts: Slovakia Ring, Orechová Potôň, Slovak Republic, races 9 and 10
Circuit length: 5.922 km
Track layout: 14 turns, racing in a clockwise direction
Last year´s winners, Race 1: Simon Knap/Jeroen den Boer (DB Motorsport, BMW Z4 GT3)
Last year´s winners, Race 2: Diego Alessi/Daniel Keilwitz (Corvette Z06.R GT3)

Perfect summer for championship leader
René RastThe leaders in the standings, Rast and ex-Formula 1 driver Markus Winkelhock (34, Germany / Prosperia C Abt Racing) enjoyed a perfect summer. During the last six weeks, the two Audi drivers have taken their Audi R9 to victory in both the ADAC 24-hour race at the Nürburgring and at the 24-Hours of Spa-Francorchamps/Belgium, which are two of the most prestigious fixtures for GT endurance racing. Rast already has the next target in his sights after his dream summer. Rast and team-mate van der Linde, who recently won the FIA´s Young Driver Excellence Award, now intend to lift the ADAC GT Masters title. Rast thinks he has a good chance of maintaining his position at the top of the rankings. Rast: "The track really suits our Audi R8, as we saw last year."

Jaap van Lagen (37, Netherlands / GW IT Racing Team Schütz Motorsport) is hot on the heels of the championship leaders. The Porsche driver has a deficit of just ten points at the start of the second half of the season. Van Lagen and team-mate Christian Engelhart (27, Germany) know that it won´t be easy at the Slovakia Ring. Van Lagen: "This track is quite a challenge for our Porsche. However, we did well in testing a few weeks ago. Qualifying will be tough, but generally speaking, the fact that Christian and I make a good team usually works to our benefit."

Claudia Hürtgen (42, Germany) and Dominik Baumann (21, Austria / both PIXUM Team Schubert) are in the hunt for their second win of the season in the BMW Z4. Hürtgen/Baumann start the second half of the season in third place and are a mere four points up on the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG driven by Maximilian Buhk (21, Germany) and Maximilian Götz (28, Germany / both HTP Motorsport), who have already achieved two victories. Baumann is feeling quite optimistic: "Everything is ours for the taking at the Slovakia Ring. The track is really demanding and there are few visual clues to help drivers get their bearings. This year, the Slovakia Ring is a little faster, because a temporary chicane has been removed and there are now additional asphalt strips at the edge of the track in some turns."

Title defender Keilwitz to line up with Wirth
With a double victory at the Red Bull Ring, defending champion Daniel Keilwitz (25, Germany / Callaway Competition) has slotted nicely into the top five in the standings, just as the title fight is about to hot up. The Corvette driver, who won last year at the Slovakia Ring on his way to the title, intends to mount a successful defence of his crown in the course of the remaining four race weekends along with Andreas Wirth (29, Germany).

Two drivers are once again aiming to create a stir at the Slovakia Ring. Former champion Albert von Thurn und Taxis (31, Germany) and Tomas Enge (37, Czech Republic / both Reiter Engineering) secured their first ADAC GT Masters podium finish at the Red Bull Ring in the mighty Chevrolet Camaro. At the Slovakia Ring, the two Camaro drivers will be keen to prove the sterling qualities of their American muscle car that pumps out more than 600bhp.

ADAC GT Masters debut for Riberas and Mayr-Melnhof
There are some new faces in the ADAC GT Masters to kick off the second half of the season. Porsche protegé Alex Riberas (20, Spain) will line up for the first time in the Porsche 911 alongside Nathan Morcom (22, Australia / both Farnbacher Racing) and is the second Spaniard in the field after Formula 1 driver Jaime Alguersuari (24, Spain / ROWE Racing), who drives a Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG.

Joining Markus Winkelhock in the Audi R8 prepared by Prosperia C Abt Racing, Vienna-based Niki Mayr-Melnhof (35, Austria) is also in the line-up for the first time and has a very short trip to the Slovakia Ring. After a successful guest drive last time out at the Red Bull Ring, Grasser Racing will again field a Lamborghini Gallardo with Gerhard Tweraser (25, Austria) and Tomas Pivoda (22, Czech Republic), as they tackle an ADAC GT Masters Weekend for the second time this season.

Toni Seiler (56, Switzerland / Callaway Competition) is aiming to fight for another class win in the Gentlemen category with a new team-mate. ADAC GT Masters race winner Andreas Simonsen (24, Sweden) will partner Seiler and race a Corvette for the first time. The Corvette drivers intend to beat the leader in the Gentlemen standings, Herbert Handlos (31, Austria / TONINO Team Herberth). The Austrian dominated the Gentlemen rankings in the Porsche 911 during the first half of the season and with a lead of 62.5 points is well up on fellow Porsche drivers Antonios Wossos (48, Greece) and Nathan Wolf (45, Netherlands / both GW IT Racing Team Schütz Motorsport) in the standings after securing six wins in eight races.

What the hell is that, you ask? LOL
Bonk Motorsports painted their car to match a new musical called Steam. Axel Burghardt, one of the sponsors of the musical made it possible. Some of the actors (as you can see in the photo) were at the 'ring as presenters and hosters. Fun times, fun times.

Mathias Lauda will enjoy his debut with the GT Masters this weekend on the Slovakiaring. He is replacing Heinz-Harald Frentzen in the SLS AMG GT3 for HTP Motorsport seen below...
Does his name sound familiar? It should - he is Niki Lauda's son. He also raced in DTM until, I think, 2009.

"I'm looking forward to the new opportunity. After all, the race will be broadcast live in my native Austria."
-- Mathias Lauda

Callaway Competition getting ready for Slovakiaring this week.
Corvette seems unstoppable in IMSA, how do you think they'll do in the European GT series?

BMW TEAM SCHUBERT READY FOR GT MASTERS SLOVAKIARING ROUNDS

Dominik Baumann and Claudia Hürtgen go in the BMW Z4 GT3 with start number 19 as third in the drivers' standings in the race nine and ten of the season. They are just 26 points behind the leaders. Last year, the duo arrived in Slovakia in third and tenth, respectively.

"Despite the long break, I'm still full of rhythm. Firstly, of course, because of the 24 hours on the Nürburgring VLN and, on the other hand because of my start in the Blancpain Sprint Series", Dominik Baumann said. "I am delighted that the ADAC GT Masters season finally starts its second half. Route guidance at the Slovakia Ring has changed slightly compared to the previous year. Artificial harassment will cease to exist in that year. That should be our BMW Z4 GT3 not be bad. myself for a few years now ride on the track and know them very well. I think we should have a good chance to remain in the championship race. "

The BMW Z4 GT3 with start number 20 continues Jens Klingman (DE) and Max Sandy Knight (DE). Both occupied together with Baumann and Thomas Jäger (AT) last weekend, second place in the VLN Endurance Championship. Kling man broke through here as the first driver of all time in a GT3 car on the VLN Nordschleife variant of the eight-minute barrier.

In the ADAC GT Masters Klingman and Sandy Knight find themselves here after an unhappy first half of the season in ninth in the drivers' standings. The Pixum Team Schubert powered by Jochen Schweizer ranks in the team standings with 114 points for second place. The two races at the Slovakia Ring begin on Saturday and Sunday respectively by 12 noon.

"I look forward to the Slovakia Ring, because that is a route that should the BMW Z4 GT3 are" Max said. "I myself feel after my inserts on the Nordschleife optimally prepared. During last VLN race I was on the podium. Now I'm highly motivated to do it in the ADAC GT Masters, too."

Stefan Wendl, Team Manager Schubert Motorsport, made no secret of the fact that all look the team that the long summer break is finally over. "Especially the record lap, the Jens Kling man last Saturday turned the VLN race on the Nordschleife, has once again given the whole team a boost of motivation. We are all determined on the Slovakia Ring as successful continue," Wendl said. "Our goal is the podium. If we want to fight for the lead in the drivers' and team standings, we need many points. According to the experience from which we are optimistic to be competitive again., The question will be just how much the Qualifying is worth it because you have seen in 2013 that one can get at the start and from tenth to first place with certain vehicles. "

"I look forward to the Slovakia Ring, because that is a route that should the BMW Z4 GT3 lie."
Max Sand Knight

From high-speed circuit in Slovakia to rush hour at the Nürburgring - after the race on the fastest track of the ADAC GT Masters calendar, the Super Sports Car League heads for the Nürburgring and the sixth of eight race weekends (August 29th-31st). The ADAC GT Masters will line up on the Nürburgring's 3,629-metre sprint circuit, one of the shortest tracks on the calendar, which means that there will be plenty of hard-fought scraps for every inch of track until the very last lap in both races on Saturday and Sunday (both broadcast live on kabel eins from 11:45 am onwards).

Keyfacts: Nürburgring, sprint circuit, Nürburg, Rounds 11 und 12

Track length: 3,629 metres
Layout: 10 turns (4 left turns, 6 right-handers), racing in a clockwise direction
Last year's winners, Race 1: Maximilian Buhk/Maximilian Götz (Polarweiss Racing, Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT3)
Last year's winners, Race 2: Claudia Hürtgen/Dominik Baumann (PIXUM Team Schubert, BMW Z4 GT3)

ADAC GT Masters from the Nürburgring on TV: Both races from the Nürburgring will be broadcast live and in their entirety on Saturday and Sunday in 'ran Racing on kabel eins, commencing at 11:45 am. (see attachment for details of Nürburgring TV schedule)

Hard-fought battle for lead in standings

Racing will be extremely close at the Nürburgring in the fight for the two wins, as the battle for the top spot in the standings hots up with just three race weekends to go until the end of the season. Led by BMW, super sports cars from five different marques occupy the top five places in the championship standings. BMW, Porsche, Audi, Corvette and Mercedes-Benz are all jockeying for position in their bid to lift the ADAC GT Masters title in what is the most exciting phase of the season.

Local driver Claudia Hürtgen (42, Aachen) and Dominik Baumann (21, Austria / both PIXUM Team Schubert) in the BMW Z4 head to the Nürburgring as championship leaders. Hürtgen/Baumann won one race last year in the Eifel. Hürtgen is expecting one of the toughest race weekends of the season: "The Nürburgring is one of the shortest tracks on the calendar, and every hundredth of a second will be vitally important, even in qualifying."

Porsche and Audi are chasing BMW

Chasing the BMW duo hard are Jaap van Lagen (37, Netherlands / GW IT Racing Team Schütz Motorsport) in the Porsche 911 and Kelvin van der Linde (18, South Africa) in the Audi R8, partnered by René Rast (27 / Frankfurt / both Prosperia C Abt Racing). Van Lagen, who is supported by Christian Engelhart (27, Kösching), and the two Audi drivers have already occupied the top position during the course of the season and are now four and five points behind Hürtgen / Baumann respectively.

Racing at the Nürburgring is something special for Rast: "This will be my first start at the Nürburgring since I won the ADAC Zurich 24-hour race there in June. I'm looking forward to my return." Rast will receive back-up in the title fight from another 24-hour race winner. Ex-Formula 1 driver and FIA GT1 World Champion Markus Winkelhock (24, Berglen-Steinach), who emerged victorious along with Rast in the 24-hr Eifel marathon and at Spa towards the end of July, will line up with Christer Jöns (27, Ingelheim) in another Audi R8 fielded by the team led by former DTM driver and ADAC GT Masters champion Christian Abt.

Corvette wins in three of the last four races

Defending champion Daniel Keilwitz (25, Villingen / Callaway Competition) has had a dream summer so far. Keilwitz has won three of four races in the Corvette, keeping alive his chances of mounting a successful title defence. Keilwitz hopes to lift more trophies in the Eifel, after all, he will have Andreas Wirth (29, Heidelberg) at his side, who is the most successful ADAC GT Masters driver at the Nürburgring. Wirth has already clinched four victories in the Eifel.

Mercedes-Benz teams BKK MOBIL OIL Zakspeed and ROWE Racing hope to secure their first podium finishes of the season in their respective SLS AMGs. The omens for a successful weekend are good with a gullwing taking the win at the Nürburgring last year. "However, given the highly competitive field in the ADAC GT Masters, that is still no guarantee that the SLS AMG will finish on top again this weekend," said local driver Luca Ludwig (25, Bonn), who lines up in a Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG prepared by Team BKK Mobil Oil Zakspeed along with Alon Day (22, Israel).

Just like the son of Nürburgring legend Klaus Ludwig, ROWE Racing hope to secure their first ADAC GT Masters trophies in the Eifel with the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG driven by ex-Formula driver Jaime Alguersuari (24, Spain) and Nico Bastian (24, Frankfurt), plus former DTM driver Maro Engel (28, Munich) and Jan Seyffarth (28, Querfurt). The Nürburgring is a home race for ROWE Racing. After achieving many successes at the Nürburgring-Nordschleife, the Eifel has become the Mercedes-Benz team's second home.

Porsche versus Corvette in the Gentlemen class

Herbert Handlos (31, Austria / TONINO Team Herberth) in the Porsche 911 has a comfortable lead at the top of the Gentlemen class on fellow Porsche drivers Dominic Jöst (35, Absteinach / TONINO Herberth) and Wolf Nathan (45, Netherlands) / Anton Wossos (48, Greece / IT both GW IT Racing Team Schütz Motorsport), who are separated from one another in the standings by only one point. With a good result at the Nürburgring, Handlos can take a decisive step to wrapping up the title. Out to prevent that happening are the Corvette teams of Remo Lips (32 Switzerland) / Lennart Marioneck (25, Bamberg) and Toni Seiler (56 Switzerland) / Jeroen Bleekemolen (32 / Netherlands, all Callaway Compettition). Although the drivers of the American muscle cars only have a chance of lifting the title on paper, they are the only ones who have been able to beat Handlos so far.

Support programme with STT and classic single-seater racing cars

The ADAC GT Masters will put on an exciting programme at the two races in the Eifel. In addition to the junior open-wheel Formel ADAC series and the ATS Formula 3 Cup, plus the DTC's DMSB - ADAC Procar touring cars, the Special Touring Car Trophy (STT) and the ADAC Graf Berghe von Trips Cup will also be contested at the Nürburgring. The STT features a superb mix of high-performance GT and touring racing cars. The ADAC Graf Berghe von Trips Cup, Germany's longest running motor racing series for classic cars, gives single-seater racing cars from the 1960s and 1970s another chance to take centre stage back on the race track.

BMW Motorsport Juniors Jake Hughes, Jesse Krohn and Alexander Mies overcame miserable conditions to successfully complete their second race in the BMW M235i Racing at the 6-hour race in the VLN Endurance Championship, which took place at the Nürburgring-Nordschleife.

After 31 laps, the number 152 car crossed the finish line in 58th place. “On their second outing, our Juniors once again had to cope with unsettled weather, and they again did a very good job of overcoming this challenge,” said head instructor Dirk Adorf.

The BMW Motorsport Juniors shared the cockpit with Michela Cerruti. She usually races in a BMW Z4 GT3 for ROAL Motorsport in the Blancpain Endurance Series. However, the Italian used the VLN race to get her first taste of the Nordschleife in the BMW M235i Racing.

“I was very excited about my first Nordschleife experience,” said Cerruti. “I had every possible weather condition over the course of the race, so I think I experienced the real Nordschleife.” As well as the circuit, the Italian also got to know the car and the BMW Motorsport Juniors. “Congratulations to BMW Motorsport on the Juniors they have selected,” she said. “They are all very good drivers, and nice guys too. They made me feel very welcome.”

Corvette takes narrow lead in FP2

Intriguing second session at the Nürburgring: Corvette narrowly leads Top Ten, all bunched within half a second.

The second free practice session at the Nürburgring was mildly overcast with an ambient temperature of 20°C. It was also one of the closest seen in this year's ADAC GT Masters as 19 supercars recorded lap times that were within a second of each other. Topping the timesheets was the Corvette Z06.R driven by Toni Seiler and Jeroen Bleekemolen (Callaway Competition), with the Prosperia C Abt Audi R8 LMS ultra of Fabian Hamprecht and Nicki Thiim a mere 0.081 seconds behind.

The Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT3 driven by newcomer Renger van der Zande and Maximilian Götz (HTP Motorsport) took an initial lead, before Bleekmoelen set the fastest lap of the session at the halfway point. Van der Zande and Götz, who had finished the morning practice in top spot, had to settle for P3 in the afternoon after Hamprecht and Thiim edged ahead later on.

Kelvin van der Linde and René Rast in a Prosperia C Abt Racing Audi R8 LMS ultra completed the session in fourth place ahead of the Porsche 911 GT3 R driven by Jaap van Lagen and Christian Engelhart (GW IT Racing Team Schütz Motorsport).

Current championship leaders Claudia Hürtgen and Dominik Baumann (Pixum Team Schubert) were seventh in the fastest of the BMW Z4 GT3s ahead of the Porsche driven by Robert Renauer and Norbert Siedler (TONINO Team Herberth). Meanwhile, Pixum team-mates Max Sandritter and Jens Klingmann were not having the happiest of times; Sandritter drove into a tyre wall, which means that his team have a big repair job in the run-up to qualifying at 4.20pm (CEST).

The Corvette duo of David Jahn and Sven Barth (RWT Racing Team) finished free practice in P8 ahead of the third Audi R8 LMS ultra entered by Prosperia C Abt Racing and driven by Christer Jöns and Markus Winkelhock. Florian Spengler and Marko Asmer (MRS GT Racing) in the McLaren 12C GT3 will be pleased to have made it into the Top Ten; for much of the session, they were in fourth place, but they were unable to improve on their time in the second half owing to a technical problem and consequently slipped back to tenth.

Renger van der Zande (#26 HTP Motorsport, Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT3): "I feel that I've got off to a good start in the ADAC GT Masters, though I still need to get used to the tyres. We're quite fast on used tyres, but I don't think I'm getting the maximum out of a new set."

Toni Seiler (#18 Callaway Competition, Corvette Z06.R GT3): "Setting the fastest lap in the second session was great; the Corvette is super to drive. But even better than posting the best time in free practice would be if we emerged from qualifying still at the front of the field."

David Jahn (#13 RWT Racing, Corvette Z06.R GT3): "I'm feeling confident. If everything goes to plan in qualifying and it stays dry, an excellent result is on the cards."

Daniel Dobitsch (#100 kfzteile24 APR Motorsport, Audi R8 LMS ultra): "In the second session, we had a brake failure which sent me spinning into the tyre wall. But we should have the car repaired in time for qualifying."

Karsten Molitor, Team Principal MRS GT Racing (McLaren): "We had a problem with the carburettor flap in the second session. Apart from that, we seem to have sorted out all the problems, and so far, things are looking quite promising for us."

Christian Engelhart (#3 GW IT Racing Team Schütz Motorsport, Porsche 911 GT3 R): "Our car is very much suited to this track, and it's a joy to drive. The situation at the top is extremely tight, but I think this weekend could go rather well for us. The new, slightly tighter configuration of the NGK chicane is not bad for us and even better for the fans, because you're going to see a lot of braking manoeuvres in the race."

Nicki Thiim (#11 Prosperia C Abt Racing, Audi R8 LMS ultra): "At last, things are going just right for us, and we are fast. We aim to be the best Audi partnership in qualifying."

Philipp Frommenwiler (#6 Farnbacher Racing, Porsche 911 GT3 R): "We haven't managed to get it together in free practice today, so qualifying is likely to be difficult too. I'm expecting to qualify for a place on the fourth or fifth row."

Dominik Baumann (#19 PIXUM Team Schubert, BMW Z4 GT3): "We're not going to have an easy time here this weekend. The field is extremely tightly bunched. and I'm having trouble adapting to the slower configuration of NGK chicane which has significantly changed the track characteristics. But if you manage to catch the chicane just right, it can be a lot of fun."
