Monitor recommendation

Can anyone recommend a good alternative to the Apple Thunderbolt display? Similar quality and 'look' but maybe something sub $500? A 24inch would do in place of 27.

I just picked up 2 benq BL2710PT

If you like the 27" these have the same resolution which was a big thing for me. Most other monitors that are cheaper are only 1920x1080, which doesn't cut it. I picked these up which have the same resolution as the apple display.

I'm using the monitors so I can have more screen real estate when I'm coding and working on my mbp and not for gaming. Can be used in portrait and landscape mode. So I'm not sure how this screen does for that.

I also looked into Dell Ultra Sharps and Sammy.

BenQ XL2430T,which offers a 24-inch TN panel with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels (Full HD) with a response time of 1 millisecond (1 ms GtG), and with an adjustable refresh rate of 75, 100, 120 and 144 Hz, yielding a maximum brightness level of 350 cd/mē, with a typical contrast ratio of 1000: 1. Don't know if this one can meet your need, just try to do some help

This determines everything. There are three different kinds of LCD screens and two different back lighting styles with a slew of different processors and connections not to mention accessory/convenience items.

What you plan to use it for is key.
