BMW ultimate drive question

is it a set course you drive through throughout the city, or do you just drive wherever for a set time?

when i did it it was a set course through city/highway. and they limit how many runs you can do, but there are ways around it and you cannot drive every car (ex: m series at the one i went to)

I've never been limited to how many times I could drive. That would make no sense. They want you to drive as much as possible, because BMW donates based on every mile driven.

There are minimum age restrictions on driving the really high-end, high power cars, e.g. M3, B7 Alpina, etc. Sorry, you youngsters are out of luck. The minimum age limit for the M3 and B7 is 30. It's 25 for the 550, 650, 750 and 760. It's 21 for all the others. Sorry, all you babies here are SOL.

There's a "suggested" course, but if you go off it, they don't really care. In all of the years I've been doing it, they allow you to reserve up to 3 cars but anytime a car is free you can jump in it and go. Last year, I was able to drive 8 cars. I can not wait for the next on ein my area!

In NJ it is a set route and they check the mileage before and after each trip.

There were no M cars at ours but you could drive as many as you wanted- I drove 7 different cars and they wanted me to drive more. Krispy Kreme and some barbeque joint catered it. Drive a convertible 6 and stuff in a donut and a chicken wing, drive, eat, drive, eat.

They all have a set course for "insurance purpose"...but people have done off the course because of bad traffic....
You can drive as much car as you wish, but there usually plenty of people waiting in line and long ass wait.....

I've seen people crashed a 550i and those who reserved it are literally SOL!!!

There are Rumors that the new M3 will be featured in the drive event, but only people ages 30 or above....

catering depends on how cheap the dealership goes.....some had warm sandwich and awesome finger food (smoke salmon...and other nice finger food)...and some others only have cold sandwich......

when i first did the drive nearly 3 years ago (US E90 introduction) there were no age restrictions. i got to drive a 750iL (i was 22) without any problems. however, right after me, two guys ran into a garbage truck and pretty much broke the car in half. i guess that's when BMW reassessed their strategy and introduced age restrictions.

i'm really bumped that you need to be 30 to drive an M3 now. but i'll be happy to test-drive a 650 just as well

Last year I drove a Hydrogen 7. It was unannounced so no one could reserve it & a BMW representative accompanied me on the drive. It was impressive how seamlessly it switched between hydrogen and gas. The 650Ci was my favorite. I'd never buy one - just not a fan of soft tops on daily driver cars - but it was fun for a top down afternoon spin. This year the M3 is definitely on my list.

Check out BMWUSA .com for the 2008 Ultimate drive dates. I am set up for a M3 and Alpina B7 (reserved times) and plan to drive about 5 others. The times I have been doing its they check your miles and if you are consistently getting lost they stopped 1 guy a few years ago from driving. Like someone said its a set course about 10 miles usually freeway/city streets.

In my area you reserved two cars but you were free to drive any cars as long as it wasn't reserved at the time you wanted to drive it. They had an outlined course but I did vary from it (jumped on the highway which was about 1.5 mile variance) and nobody said anything.
