It does not look like they have had an MX (MX-3.5.4) update since 2011.

I re-applied the firmware and so far no bluetooth streaming noises so that must've been a fluke.

I downloaded the file on a USB and inserted it into the center console port under the armrest. It did nothing. Am I missing something? Is there a code that must enable this feature or is it the same for all makes 2009-2013?

The update only work on cars 11.5 or later production. Make sure you copy the file in the main directory of a USB drive. Try a different brand/size USB stick.

M3AG is correct, 2011.5 (Sept 2010 production) or newer... And the file does not auto-load, you then have to go into iDrive and start the software update.

I believe it has to be inserted into the usb where the glovebox is?

Glovebox usb is for updating Maps. You have to use the USB port in the center console.

you have to use the iDrive to load the file. It won't auto-load.

Does the SMS via idrive work on 2013 CIC? I have yet to see txts on my idrive while using my iPhone.

On iOS goto settings -> Bluetooth -> My Devices. Select your BMW (touch the "i" icon). Make sure Show Notifications is ON.

Go to Settings again and select Notifications -> Messages -> Allow Notifications "ON", Show in Notification Center "5 or 10", Badge App icon "ON" and very important one is Show on Lock Screen is set to "ON". Set the Alert style to "Alert" and Show Previews "ON".

Were you able to set any of the short keys on the M3 to go directly to office or msgs? For some reason it's not letting me set up a short key for it.

I don't have a shortcut key for messages but you should be able to make a shortcut from any menu. I don't have access to my car (stored for winter) to test it. Anyone else?
