Merc went off the rails 5 years ago and never recovered. their bifurcated EV line is a nightmare for dealers. Their interior electronics are a cheap Chinese light/ screen show.

It can't only be that; most reviews I've read of recent models have been pretty lukewarm, all drivetrains included. I've been reading a lot about the BMW i5 and EQE lately to compare them and almost every reviewer says the BMW has a better interior and feels better to drive than the Merc (and that's saying nothing about the look of the EQs). The new C-Series doesn't seem to get people excited either.

while that model certainly didn't help, I don't think that's the only problem. The chart says 12 out of 12 BMW models tested were recommended and a whopping 0 out of 11 MB models tested were recommended. The most recent MB models tested were a mix of C, CLA, EQE, EQS, and GL models. So pretty much the range of MB models tested and CR didn't like any of them. Ouch.

Overall, outside of the S-Class, the rest of the line up isn’t as good as BMW’s offerings. People will still buy what they like but I couldn’t pick a Mercedes over a competing BMW model. |

Also interesting is Audi's rating. Several years ago they had a publicly stated goal of being the highest selling German luxury brand, or something like that. But while they show 8 of 9 models tested being recommended, their owner satisfaction is dropping according to CR. This doesn't help sell more cars.

Not sure why this was CR report was reposted for “front page” news, as it’s old news. https://www.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...php?p=30887727

100%. BMW is doing a phenomenal job. We haven’t had a single issue on our BMWs the last 4 years and are very happy with them.

BMW Road Test score higher than Porsche... laughable.
Disqualified results just on that alone. Watch their Youtube channel to realize who is reviewing these cars and it will tell you all you need to know. CU (CR) has definitely faltered in recent years. They have their own biases in tests now (not just automotive) and I have actually spent a large amount of time in my job reverse engineering their evaluation criteria in other categories. The conclusion is that it's flawed and that they bake in assumptions that are wrong in many cases - i.e. projected reliability (based on some of their own flawed parameters) and consumer satisfaction which is survey based and not 100% accurate due to their respondent counts. Like most things today, the quality of their reporting has gone downhill. |

Love my older Merc, interesting to see a list where KIA is top 7 but Merc and Volvo isn’t even listed questionable tbh.
