Bumping up an old thread. I have a lot of questions. I was thinking about getting a 335i coupe but after reconsidering what I want in a car (and after reading about the fuel pump issues) I think the 550 is a better fit.

Can anyone else on here compare their experiences between the 335i and the BMW 550i?

Are there any major differences between the 2006 and 2007 550i? I think I read somewhere that the auto tranny is better in the 2007

What kind of real world gas mileage are you guys getting in the 550. Is 25 mpg+ on the highway really attainable.

Manual or Auto? I was deadset on manual in the 335i but if the auto in the 550 is better than the auto in the 335i I might have to try it out.

Also what would be considered a good deal on the 550?

Finally how has the reliability been on the 550i? I am assuming the engine and tranny is pretty bulletproof.

<-----Done rambling

I'm at approx 490hp and 350tq at the crank w/ my mods..

Anybody want to talk about how much they love (or hate) their BMW 550i or M5?

How a Natural Aspired engine work is this. It does not use force induction to product power. The way M3 engine was designed similar to BMW F1 racing engine. Most M Engine they used a system to created long and short runner to created more or less air into Intake Manifold.. This mention is to control power it will need it for racing or just out for join ride. V engine are normally more HP than Torque.. If you want to go for quick start at the light, you want to have Inline engine. In a typical Inline egnine, Torque always higher than HP for quick start. Whatever take to win a long distance track, v design always the best. HP will always be faster near at the end of the track. It is very difficult to balance both HP and Torque in a equal weight. Eventhought, BMW Claimed that 335i is 300 hp and 300 lb torque. It is totally fault statement. When you dyno your 335i, you will get 270 hp and 289 lb of torque.
lol what are you talking about?
The engine layout has nothing to do with his question, both engines are V8s one is a 4.8L V8 the other a 4.0L.
To answer his question, the reason the 4.8 has more tq is simply because it has a higher displacement. Torque is the measure of force multiplied by the distance. The 4.8L has 800cc more for the pistons to move around, thus giving it greater tq than the 4.0L engine

Any problems? (How many miles do you have) Love (or hate) SMG? Where in VA do you live? BTW, I live in Alexandria, Va.

I am trying to pick up a low mileage 2006 M5, I may extend the warranty and maintenance plans. These things are hard to find. How many did they make between 2006-2007
