It doesn't exactly say that, but the timing of the two announcements seems like somewhat of a coincidence.

BMW Blog has the announcement there with a picture of the new iPod Out functionality. Seems like that's the way they interpreted it as well.

Automatic/Start Stop...
You wanted a comment on how the start/stop feature works. I do not know specifics of the BMW design, but most cars that have this feature do not use the starting motor to re-start the warm engine that has been stopped say in city traffic at a stop light, but rather the position on the crankshaft is detected and used to determine which of the cylinders has its piston just over the top dead center. When re-start is called for, the spark plug of this cylinder is fired first, and the ignition sequence is initiated, which puts the engine in motion. Note that starting motor is still used to start the cold engine first thing in the morning, etc.

Glad they are putting tweeters back into the doors of the 1 series.

I am SUPER bummed about the complete CRAP speaker setup in my 2010.

I rented a Ford Focus the other day for business and the sound system sounded much much better. That is sad...

manual seats sound nice, don't have to worry about the motors going out plus hopefully lose some weight.

Edit: also special addition guys are not that special minus the paint
+ 1 "...New optional Bi-color Novillo Leather (non-extended) is available in black with red seating surfaces and soft door panel sections, or black with gray seating surfaces and soft door panel sections......." I was suprised to see that!

This cracks me up...

I love my BMW, but ever since I started "following" BMW (early 2006) I've seen this happen over and over. You lust for a brand new BMW with all the bells and whistles only to have the wind taken out of your sails when something changes within a year or two. Weather it be new engine (2006 e90 to 2007 e90) new iDrive (2008 to 2009) or LCI, etc, etc, etc.

Instead of buying my ZHP I considered leasing a nearly every option 2006 e90 330i
(early 2006). I would have been SO pissed when they announced the new engine. At Christmas of 2008 I almost leased a well equiped e90 m3 (but no heated seats on a 70k car, idiots), I just couldn't though because I would have wanted the new idrive system, LCI taillights and heated seats.

Its almost like buying a computer, you could keep waiting forever but you know that most certainly not too long after you buy one, something else better will come out...

All of that said, enjoy the car you have, I'm enjoying my 7 year old 330i every time I turn the key, and although it has navigation and ipod connectivity, it doesn't show album artwork either.

Euro cars have had that feature for years in and it very clever. When you stop in to a traffic light and push cluth pedal down engine turns off from the pedal movment. And as you lift your foot from the pedal engines turns on. I think its dumb that you run your engine when not moving?

There is also a switch if you dont want to have it on, like there is for a/c or lights.

all this weight saving, enthusiast approach with the manual seats is great. But I hope you all realize that the start/stop system will weigh much more than the difference between power and manual seats. Just my $0.2

I'll neither agree nor disagree with you because I have no evidence one way or the other. However, I do have to ask: do you happen to have any details about the system that can back up what you say. My SWAG would be that the start/stop system adds no weight. Speculatively, I'd agree that it probably requires a more durable starter motor that could in theory increase weight, but not necessarily.

^^ I have no proof, just a thought. One person earlier in the post seemed to have more knowledge of the subject than I do; he thought it will be heavier as well as it involves a "big ass starter".

They will look exactly like the Frozen Grey M3 limited edition Bicolor seats (there is a set of photos posted here), in both Red and Silver. I saw an OEM document that shows that even Bamboo Bicolor could be offered as well...

So, am I correct in thinking that the iPod out compatibility will only benefit devices running iOS4 (iPhone/iPod touch)? Meaning iPod nanos and classics would not see any change when connecting using the USB interface?

The pricing is published yet. I was excited about being able to pull out before it was too late. I will let you know what price differences were once the sales guy calls me back so I can re-build the car.
