After market pads= no rotor change?

I run about 10 track days each year, and now my front stock rotor is below min sickness. I took the car to the dealer and asked them to replace my rotor, but they refused it because I run after market brakes. Wonder if the same thing happened to you guys?

i always change back to stock pads and they have replaced my rotors a few times no questions asked. I also think its depends on what dealership you go to

It's due to the fact the dealer has to send back the pads and rotors to BMW once they are replaced u den warranty and are measured back at BMW for min thickness. If they fail to meet min dealer does not get reimbursed. Rotor replacement requires worn pads as well.

Did you measure the thickness on your own? What's is the serviceable limit for rotors and pads?

yes, I measured the front. the min is marked on the rotor I believe, about 22.8MM

I'm assuming that is the overall width? Measured from the inboard most to the outboard most face of the rotor? I have to get me a 0-1" outside micrometer to measure my rotors. I don't recall if rotors and pads are covered under the maintenance program though. Seems to be at the discretion of the SA/Dealership.

Min thickness Specs listed in Mitchell Pro:

"New brake pads may only be installed if the brake disc thickness is greater than or equal to the minimum brake disc thickness (MIN TH) (not including M vehicles).
In case of M vehicle and perforated brake discs new brake pads may only be installed if the brake disc thickness is greater than the minimum brake disc thickness (MIN TH).
Minimum brake disc thickness during general inspection (GI):
Nominal size thickness minus 2.4 mm
(Not applicable to perforated brake discs and M vehicles)
M vehicles and perforated brake discs:
Nominal size thickness minus 1.6 mm"

The Nominal (New) thickness is 30 mm front minus 1.6 mm = MIN TH of 28.4 mm (1.11811 inches).

You will need a larger micrometer. You will have to hunt for a brake rotor specific micrometer. The pointed tip helps to measure the actual depth of the grooves, if present.

Some measure .500 - 1.500 inches. Like in the one shown in the video and have pointed tip(s).
