Leaving the E9X M3 for F8X M3? Don't give up your E9X for anything
So its about that time for the exodus for the F80 M3. Let's get it this out there...FACT...the F80 M3 will be a superior car in terms of performance, technology, and probably luxury. Now the question is...are you going to like the way it achieves that improved performance.
For me...I'm staying with my E90 M3. I'll consider adding an F8X to my stable at some point. While the F10 M5 S63TU is a monster of an engine...it just doesn't do it for me. I'm in the camp of I like NA...so I'm going to stay NA and not going to bitch about why BMW is making turbo'd M cars. Because I'm just waiting for the day to drive a hybrid M car.

E9x for a long while, then most likely into a P-car.

I'm doing the Euro Delivery with my buddy on August 1st to pick his up, we're going to rack up a lot of miles I'm sure and I'll have a better idea then.
I'm not digging the interior at all, but the mpg's are VERY attractive in comparison.

Try posting this in the F8x M forums and see what happens to the results, heh. Those that are buying the car have probably already abandoned the E9x forums.

Ill drop my E92 next summer once the new crop of cars has been out and pinned against each other to death. I find the RCF to be a very interesting option and definitely want to see how it performs before buying an F8x. And even tho I'm not a fan of the styling from a performance perspective 11-12 GT-R are really coming into my price range. First world problems...

staying in my '12 E92, then P car is next. IMO the high reving V8 is just amazing and I think I'd miss it more than taking on the F80/F82

I'll 'never say never' but consensus is that engine note is a big disappointment vs. E9x and for me that's at least 25% of the experience. I can't really see myself being seduced by the new M despite the clearly better performance and handling.

Dahell... More of you are supposed to be moving on so I can get some good prices on parts.

Love my E9x M3. Don't really care much for new turbo with more power, fuel efficiency, blah-blah-blah. Nothing beats NA v8 sound. Oh E9x M3 looks good too

My 2013 M3 Frozen Red lease is not up for another 24 months but YES! I will be jumping ship with new M3 w/ the aggressive more pronounce fenders than the M4.

Looks like BMW took design notes from the Corvette Z06 bubbas. The new F8x M body compared to the e9x M is similar to the regular C6 and the flaired fenders of the Z06 corvette. I just saw a 428i this morning and I'm not feeling that new front fender 'gill'. Also, not sure if it is real or imagined, but the new body seems closer to the size of a 5 series then a 3. I'll stick with the e9x M3. Plus, the already mentioned v8 sound is pure music! The new F8x can't possibly replicate that sound at 8300 RPM... My guess is if you like the flaired fender look of the F8x, you'll be able to buy them and put them on your e9x in a year or so (just like the Corvette...)

The S65 is now a timeless motor that will be remembered just like the s54 was in the e46.
The N/A v8 that screams to 8300rpm is what made the "S" motor unique, now its an "S" motor that sounds like a basic 335i. Sure it may have 11 more hp and loads more tq w/ tuning capabilities, but I chose the S65 M3 because it had a unique engine that was incredibly fun to drive |
