New BMW 7 Series, i7 and XM sneak peak feedback

Last night, I was invited to see the new 7 Series, X7 and XM in NYC. I also spent the day with an i4 M50.

As is the BMW way, they took my phone and camera, but I did a write up on what I saw:

In short, BMW has really leveled up the interior in the new 7. But the outside….

can you share a bit more about the production xm NOT having the split headlights because the concept and test mules do.... or else the "hidden effect" of the lower headlights just works better on that model???

That would be a huge change in strategy considering they used the XM concept presser to call out the split headlights as core to differentiating the premium tier vehicles.

Was the XM a production or concept version?

Now they said it was production, but I'm not so sure because the the interior was still using mostly current parts and not the ones from the new 7 just a few feet away.

Otherwise, it's as I said; the XM has no split level light design. But to be fair, M cars have always had different front ends than regular series cars, though no series XM will be made it seems.

Glad to hear the 7er finally has an interior design befitting it. That being said, a shame the exterior will resort to the split headlight design and large vertical grills. I prefer flagship sedans with a more elegant and stately design, from the looks of the i7 leak, I'm not sure the new front would qualify for that.

I'd also be concerned for the rest of the lineup, as BMW typically scales down the 7 for it's 5 and 3 siblings.

Did the XM look as hideous in person as it does in pictures?

I think so, unfortunately. Shades of X2, with broader shoulders.
