So has anyone actually gotten their VIN to show up with a recall yet? My build date is 05/10 so I assume I should be eligible and probably one of the first rounds of notices once they start sending them out.
Im not too worried about it but once people start getting recall letters post up in here!

Identical Production date here. Same philosophy as yours too - I will continue to enjoy and beat on the car, and take it to the track as allways. I change my oil twice a year on average (even with low mileage/year), and just recently bought a Dimple magnetic engine oil drain bolt.

Im still hoping/anticipating for an eventual recall letter ...

So my 2011 F10 is getting fixed now. The bolts broke causing the vanos to get loose and break as well. From what I was told is that the broken bolts fell into my motor so they have to take the whole thing apart and check for any other damages and to get the broken pieces.

BMWNA has stepped up and has covered all the expenses my repairs.

BMWNA is terrible. They try to deny me warranty because of my mods which are completely unrelated. Ever since the VANOS failed the first time I've had oil consumption issues and now some oil leaks and broken intake plastic parts because my car has been taken apart so many times since.

My car had 30k miles when the VANOS failed and ruined the top end of my motor. They rebuilt it instead of giving me a new engine like they should have and it's been a nightmare since.

And the code to watch out for is 2DCE I believe. If you see this rip on the car harder so the motor blows when the VANOS fails .... otherwise you'll end up like me with problems for eternity!

It would be really nice for me to get a new engine at 83k miles! Then this car will for sure go 250k... like it should.

I checked last week again, no codes whatsoever.

So you suggest I rip out the intercooler, CP and filter if shit goes down so BMW can't deny me anything?

"What mods?"
-or-
"It was like this when I bought it."

BMWNA is a bunch of fucks. Anyone have a lawyer in the NY area that specializes in this and has a good knowledge of the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act. They are denying me warranty because they are saying modifications I've done to the car have caused premature failure of the VANOS motor which controls the lift on the intake side. Spoke to multiple people who says thats bullshit and that any modifications I've done wouldn't be the cause of that. It's really pathetic considering back 16k miles ago when my VANOS failed my service history was like 5 sheets of paper. Following that my service history is like the encyclopedia.

This is good to hear. I made the argument not too long ago that the VANOS (hehe cool, my iPhone knows what VANOS is and capitalized it) recall in China isn't just specific to China, and set up an appointment. It should all be taken care of and a good time to ask to fix other things too

My vanos bolt broke. I paid out of pocket to have it replaced. 75 miles later some electrical component on the head was damaged and had to change that and main computer. Paid out of pocket for everything. I told the dealership about the recall and the mechanic was convinced the car ran low on oil and caused all if it.

Except it ran low on oil because the VANOS bolt broke, leaving a hole for the oil to squirt out...

The symptoms started with the engine malfunction light coming on. Then the car could not accelerate to normal speeds. Eventually it sounded like the engine was sputtering and then it got louder and louder and then nothing. Essentially the engine is running with no transmission connection. When you try to start the vehicle is just makes a "whirring" sound.

Nope and I'm looking on the recall site too.
The thing I really don't like about this: BMW Recall Link, is that you can type in a totally bogus number and it doesn't tell you that it isn't a valid VIN. I think their lookup is bogus. Has anyone EVER gotten a recall acknowledgement from this thing?

Received from BMWNA y'day:
Owners of potentially affected vehicles will be contacted by BMW Customer Relations via First-Class Mail to inform them of the recall and, when parts are available, will receive a second notification that will advise them to make an appointment with their authorized BMW center to have the repair made

No mention of a possible time frame.

EXCELLENT!!! And I see you own a 2011 335xi E92 as well. Do you happen to know your production month/year?

I see that if I run your VIN at http://www.bmwusa.com/Standard/Conte...er/Recall.aspx
It says "No recalls" Thus I say the BMW site is BOGUS.
