Was stoked to try out the repaved Streets of Willow this weekend. The RT660's were well past their prime, and you can hear them screaming in the video. They have two 13CW Buttonwillow days + 1000 miles to and from the track, and a canyon day in Angeles Crest on them...Fresh tires and I think we could swing a low 18/high 17.

Weight: 3260 + me (160)
Track/course: Streets of Willow CW
Best Lap Time: 1:19.47 (AIM GPS & Transponder)

Another PB at Buttonwillow! Not my cleanest lap.. cold track with dirt in some bad places from people going off. Only my 3rd lap of the 1st session, but it got warmer and dirtier, and slower throughout the day.

My first visit to Road Atlanta. Had hub issues, then rain at the beginning of the week, but was able to get a few laps in on Wednesday. Thursday was beautiful. Was able to get some decent runs in. Have the weekend with PCA, but power steering problems showed up this morning, so I think this is the best lap time I'll see on this trip. (Plus, there's a lot of cars on track at the PCA event.) Gonna take it to a shop in a bit and try to get an idea of what the issue is.

I'm very familiar with both those tracks. Just ran RA this week Thursday. Those are smoking fast times. Of course my basis for comparison are street cars driven too and from, but nonetheless those are cranking times! Congratulations!

Thanks! Was really thankful for how this weekend went.

I’ve been going through the data on the airplane. Found some interesting stuff. Will try to write about it soon.

Only got the coilovers in the car 10 hours before the event, didn't have time to get an alignment or corner balance. Just running the base settings from MCS -- car has tons of grip and compliancy but the front is washing out and overall it's a bit soft and pushy. Tuning needed, but feeling good!

Nice job. I can hear the tires talking to you in some of the corners (that's good) and I see you checking the slide at or past a few of the apexes. So you are definitely hustling it IMO. To mitigate the front end washing out - and the overall feeling of being a bit soft and pushy - consider adding more rear sway bar (stiffer) or less front bar (softer). Additionally, see The Black of Adjustable Dampers .pdf file I've attached below. Just in case you don't have adjustable sway bars you could go up on rear spring rates or stiffer on the rear shock bump setting (though shocks govern transient balance and not steady state such as in fast sweepers). Once the 'pushy' balance is shifted towards more oversteer you could consider moving your braking point a little nearer to the turn in point -> and then carry more speed at turn in. Overall, it's a great video and shows how tight Buttonwillow 13CW is. Nice job. To fit the 295/30R18 tire size 'square' are you running a 10.5X18 rim or 11X18 rim with no front fender liners?

Tires: RE71RS 275/35-18
Suspension: Stock
Engine: Bimmerworld Xpipe, Alpine MSS tune, Eisenmann Race Rear

Other: do88 oil cooler.

Notes: This was my first time on RE71RS, and I absolutely love this tire. These are some sticky boys. Temps went from 29* in the morning to 50* in the afternoon which I've never tracked in starting weather that cold--so managing temps in relation to the cold was a work in progress and I ended up running a little hot due to my underestimation. But these still managed to grip throughout the session.

Overall very happy with the lap time, as the car is still only on stock suspension with maxed out front camber around -1.2. I'd say there's 1-2 seconds left on the table with the car in its current form though.

Starting to go down the track day rabbit hole. This was my second track day this year (both at streets), but are the only ones in a very long time. Already know I want to get tires/wheels for the track to preserve my street tires.

Reading through times here, seems like I’m at a decent starting point for getting some instruction and the wheels/tires for my next day, then pads/lines and maybe coilovers next year.
