Bout to buy an e92!
Hey guys,
bout to jump into the M3 game. I've got my eyes on a couple different cars but the one I'm leaning towards is a 2012 with 97k miles. It's in good shape. Just wanted to see what issues I should look for. I'm aware the rod bearings and throttle actuators are still an issue on the 2011.5 cars too. Thanks! |

There is some good info here if u have not read it yet
https://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1418410 Besides the 2 things you mentioned which are paranoia on here there isn't too many issues. Same as any other car. Since that car has some miles on it a good check of the shocks and suspension is a good idea. Motor mounts tend to go around 50k from what I have read. Look for a car that is spec'd how you want it I would say is most important. The dct vs 6mt, exterior and interior color, zcp, slicktop, e90,92.93, cloth, leather etc The 12 is LCI so you will have the led which is nice. I wouldn't be scared away from this car due to miles either. These engines have failed from rod bearings just as much at sub 40k miles as they have at 40k+. |

Biggest risk is a permanent wide ass grin on your face which may anger others drivers around you and perhaps Johnny Law as well.

I would make sure the service and accident history checks out. Also might be a good idea to get a pre purchase inspection to see what items may need replacing or maintenance in the short term so you can budget accordingly.
