Chrome 162's
I'm thinking about swapping my 162's for some chrome ones, but I can't find a picture of what it would look like anywhere. I've found pictures of the rims, but no pictures of them on a car. I'd like to see a picture of chrome 162's on a 330i w/ sports package (preferably a black car). I got to believe someone has that combination out there somehwere that has taken a picture.

I think chrome factory will look better then most aftermarket wheels I see others put on their e90s.

Chrome wheels belong on old school muscle cars period. But if you want that bling bling look then go ahead and do it. |

They might look pretty cool. Who cares what others think. It is your car. I get tired of everyone putting the same old stuff on cars because everyone is so scared to go against the masses. People all have to be the same and then say how bad it is if you do something different on a car. Go for the chrome and show us how it looks. I think it may look pretty cool.

I saw Chrome 162's on Jet Black 330i at BMW of San Diego. Actually, they didn't look too bad. Chrome just isn't my thing - it's just too bling-bling imo. Each to his own though.
I didn't realize it was a rare combo, else I would have taken pics. Sorry! If I pass by there over the weekend and they still have the car, I'll take a couple of pictures. Asking price was an outrageous $3999

You could get your 162s plated. I don't know why you would want to, not strictly because of the look, but because of weight.
Those 162s weigh 26lb (f) and 28lb (r) already. A chrome version of any rim weighs about 2 to 3 lb more than the same wheel non-chrome. To me form follows function. In other words, what works good, looks good. (The Suzuki Hayabusa being a notable exception to this concept.) So seeing a sport oriented car with heavier than necessary wheels just doesn't look right to me. My $0.02. |
