Talking Abandoned BMW Dealership in Oakville up for grabs.

When we wrote about the abandoned BMW dealership back in August, we posed numerous questions and even after the entire world picked up on the story, none of us received any answers. When we finally managed to get one-on-one time with the owner he flat out refused to answer any of our questions. Yet this week, the place was put up for sale by Indusite Realty Corp. An interesting turn of events in which the owner is likely hoping to ride his newfound exposure to the top of sugar mountain. The place is reportedly listed for 3.6 million dollars, a number reportedly considered on the high side by people in the industry.

Do you get the cars? If so then an avid BMW collector should be all over this. Nobody knows what the hidden sections hold, imagine there was an unused "M1" in there

wow, that place is literally stuck in time!

I don't think that place is worth more than the land value and the building shell value. The value in it is really for someone who wants to turn it back into another car dealership. There's probably extensive work that needs to go into the building to get it back into code. It's a pure car dealership business play here, I don't think the 1980's BMWs on the lot needs to be factored so much...

Plus, how much is a 198X 6 series really worth, it's all peanuts compared to the asking value for the land and building itself.

Abandoned 80s BMW Dealership for sale....

Found this on Jalopnik, has anyone here seen it in person?

Quote:
The ghost BMW dealership is for sale

Three months ago we introduced you to a ghost BMW dealership in Canada abandoned since 1988. The next day, we introduced you to its owner. Today we learn that the dealership, including the rotting cars inside its plate-glass walls, are up for sale, and can be yours for $3.6 million.

The dealership's owner, who isn't exactly the chatty type, is looking to cash in on new-found attention (by stories like the one we and others ran back in August) to the dealership, which has been sitting untouched for two decades in the small town of Oakville, Ontario.

If you'll remember, the boys at the MaxBimmer forums and at Endras, a local BMW dealership, discovered that in 1988 the dealer, operating under the name "Citation Motors," had its license revoked for unknown reasons. They then moved to Toronto under the name "Downtown BMW" which in 2002 closed up shop.

The owner, apparently a well-to-do businessman, seemed to have little interest in selling the place, or even the inventory, considering that everything's been left intact. As we said before, one hundred percent frozen in time is the only fitting description for this place.

We're assuming the $3.6 million price includes the two cars on the showroom floor and all the vehicles in the service bay, as well as the underground level, which would make a great theater to watch car movies on a giant screen.

If it were us, we'd buy it, take over the garage, build that theater and turn the rest of the place into the largest damn Tim Horton's the world has ever known. What say you, eh?
