2015 Jeep SRT8

Hello trusted forum people,

I am looking at trading my car in for a new 2015 Jeep SRT8. They have insane deals this weekend and since Dodge just gained exclusive rights to SRT, this may be one of the last model years of the Jeep SRT.

It's got around 500hp, 15 combined MPG, and all the modern day options a guy could want. I am coming from a F10 535 though so am wondering if I would miss the German engineering and aesthetics.

Any input would be greatly appreciated!

Not really a huge fan of the car, i liked the old ones more. But its a really nice car, and if you are looking for a jeep size vehicle its a good pick.

Although they are not really has fast as you would think. If you like it, go for it.

The Jeep SRT8 is a bad ass vehicle but for a $65K SUV I would rather spend 9K more and buy a Porsche Cayenne S. Or spend $3K less and get the Porsche Cayenne Diesel. Or I would seriously wait for the new Volvo XC90 to launch in four days and see what it's pricing is going to be. Just my input.

I do like the size and price of the SRT and I know it's a heavy car but it is still quite quick based on the reviews I've read. Have you driven one?

Yeah, I don't want a Cayenne S because I honestly believe they are under powered. Lowest Cayenne I would go for would be a GTS and those are around 100 stacks. Not a fan of Volvo's either. I am looking for something a little more rare that has flair (if that makes sense). Like a car I can buy off the lot that already looks special.

** you know what...I take that back. The Cayenne S isn't underpowered. I'm an idiot. With a bunch of options it's probably out of my price range.

I had one of the first Gen ones and loved it. The second gen leaves me cold though. Its put on a lot of weight, the price has gone up by 50%, and its really not impressive any more. Does the 2015 at least have the 8 speed finally, or still the antiquated Mercedes 5 speed? For what it costs, I'd rather have an X5 or Range Rover Sport.

They finally have a ZF 8-speed in them and agree that they are heavy and a bit pricey for a Jeep. X5's and RRsports are awesome, that's for sure. I would want an X5M though or a SC RRS and again my budget would be BLOWN!

Had an X5M too. Best vehicle I ever owned, besides the TPMS system that was constantly acting up. Couldn't keep it. Got too expensive to feed. God do I miss her.

i know two people who bought them, and both sold them. I also have raced against them also. Overall seeing them in person, and hearing feedback. Its not a car I really care for. They are nice cars, but i think people just go bored. They also don't even look that much better over well package non SRT jeep.

I would rather get something like a X5 or X6. M model if you can swing it.

We have a 2014 Overland Hemi and it's an awesome vehicle. I could not justify the additional $20k for the SRT but I do think they're cool cars. In all honesty, let sports cars be sports cars and let SUVs be SUVs. Get yourself a nice Overland and an S2000 or alike for fun.

Well, I like the way it looks both outside and in, especially with the sepia interior. I think its the perfect size, huge brakes, huge V8, AWD, great performance, and a bargain compared to the competition.

Since you asked...

You are going from a German sports sedan made by one of the top tier sport sedan makers in the world to a sport utility vehicle with a hopped up suspension and engine with all the driving dynamics of a chassis originally designed for off road use made by one of the top tier off-road vehicle manufacturers. What do you think?

I thought the Jeep was essentially an ML class? Having said that, I'm starting to like the X5M. You can pick up a used one for a great deal these days and it's quick enough. 0-60 in less than 4.5 seconds fast. Only problem is that it gets 14 mpg and the tires wear out every 20K miles due to the rear camber.

Not sure how the BMW SUV's do on off-road terrain, but I remember watching a Top gear where the X6 (I think) was essentially useless going up a moderately muddy patch of land.

My father in law has a Hemi-Overland. I'd rock that thing in a heartbeat if MPG wasn't a concern.

In fact, I'd probably take it over the SRT and spend the 4-5k to drop a blower on it.

Welp,

After careful consideration I have decided to go for it. I got a great deal and I'm not looking back. I love what I've seen/experienced so far from the SRT in the two days of ownership. I'll be back to BMW when the G30 M5 comes out. Thanks for the feedback guys! Until then!
