Gym Membership or MMA training school

So I'm in a situation where I need to choose one or the other.

I used to have a gym membership last year and loved going to it.

I keep driving by this MMA training school which is unlimited classes and has plenty of classes at different times.

Which do you think would be better for just fitness, I'm not trying to break records or become an amatuer fighter

Just purely to get in shape and feel better

any input is welcomed

You're not comparing apples to apples. Whichever you like more.

mma but it depends on the school and whether they seem "authentic" or not..but still it'll be a good workout and you'll learn some fighting skills...

MMA is great for cardio. If your looking to stay lean it is a great option. If your looking to get size then lifting would be better. Only down side of MMA gyms is ring worm, staff infection etc...

i signed up for MMA training school shit for $80/mo that's being taught by a well renowned guy who's definitely legit. It's at a gym that charges $30/mo for 24 hour usage to its regular members so I negotiated the registration fee of $200 down to $150 and it included free gym membership.

Agreed ^

If it's being done the way it should, it'll be just about the most intense and productive workout you can do. It'll make crossfit look like kids stuff.

MMA can mean a lot of things. MMA can mean an honest-to-goodness school which teaches a variety of different fighting styles. It can also mean something like Tiger Schulmanns (No Longer Karate, Now MMA). This basically happens when someone bastardizes a martial art to the point that it can't really be called what it was originally called. Mix in some moves from other martial arts styles (or hey, whatever the "master" saw on TV), and you technically get MMA. If you go that route, choose somewhere legitimate where you can learn a variety of legitimate styles or at least moves and techniques from those styles; it is a much more rewarding experience than a martial arts buffet (take a little from here.. a few kicks from so-and-so style.. some ground moves from here.. etc).

I did Krav Maga for about a year to shift a huge amount of weight (did it twice a week, lost 30 kg).

Once I got to a weight and fitness level I was happy with, I joined a gym and starting growing muscles!

For a beginner, the training schools and martial arts classes are great.

I did Jiu Jitsu for awhile but got tinea on my feet and didn't like the slow pace of learning.

Try both and see whats best for you?
