Doubtful, they've been trademarking M7 for years, even M10 back in 2012.

I just hope it will be better than the last BMW "halo" car, the i8. I think it would be great if they made a car that looks as good or better than the i8, without making the mistake of putting a gutless drivetrain.(when compared to cars of similar styling and performance)

i8 was disappointing. Either go full ICE or full EV. At the time I think BMW internally was quite positive that PHEV is the future so it seemed like a good idea. But performance credentials simply didn't live up to the price.

i8 was a waste of time and money just to please the greenies and you can't open the doors in a multi storey car park.

CarBuzz has uncovered a pair of trademark applications with the Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines for the names M7 and M9.
So they're making two halo cars exclusively for the Philippine market? Ok

I think it says they simply found out about those trademarks with the Philippine intellectual office. Didn't say anything about two halo cars exclusively for the Philippine market. For all we know they could have filed those trademarks elsewhere as well (or already have them filed previously). The point being that they actively and recently filed trademarks for those names (regardless of where it may be). It could all be for nothing, or as the media likes to stir up headlines.... a couple halo cars.

Trademarks to be protected in case of. Nothing behind the curtains.
When Vision M Next eventually makes production it would be known as the BMW M.
