Custom made wheel tables (not just glass sitting on wheels!)

Hey guys, just thought I'd share this here as well... I just made this table out of a damaged Ferrari 458 wheel that I was able to get my hands on. What do you think? Does anyone else have any old/damaged wheels that they wanna turn into a table?

I have a very slightly damaged wheel from my old GTI That I've always wanted to turn into a table but it's not really something I would put in my house so the project remains shelved.

Looks like this:

Nice! I'll bet that there are a lot of GTI fans who would love a table made from that wheel

Wonder what it would look like if you cut off the barrel from the step behind the lip. Could take it from looking like a wheel on a post to a very nice table.

Came here thinking I would see a wheel table and not just a piece of glass sitting on wheel. Saw glass sitting on wheel.

Nice work. I'd of gone with a round column. But this will be the first piece of furniture "to go" when you get married...

Thanks. After I mounted it I kicked myself for not adding a rotor, studs and lug nuts too.

I've received a few PMs requesting my VW Huf wheel. I'm going to hang onto it for now, guys.

That's what we did, then we welded a cone down to a floor base, made a frame around the glass from wood, slotted it and filled with LED strips all around to illuminate the table. I'm waiting for my buddy to email me back to see if he still has it, got a ton of compliments and really wasn't that hard of work.

The hardest part was probably making the wood frame around the glass. It was more time meticulous than anything.

OP, take the wheel and cut off the barrel, it will make it look much cleaner and not just like a wheel with glass on it.

We mounted it in a Hurco VMC and cut it off with a solid carbide TiAlN coated flycutter.

You can probably cut it off with a regular angle grinder with a cut off wheel too I'd imagine.

Now that looks like it's right out of a strip club.

The finished product.. Full alcantara base and post. The wheel in the first two pictures is a gloss black Neptune style wheel off of a Maserati Granturismo. The Wheel in the second two pictures is also off of a Granturismo, but it is the MC style wheel. Which one do you like better?
