I did a few E36 trans on jack stands before I got a lift. I recommend cutting the stock fiber heat shielding at the firewall and replacing it afterwards with reflective heat tape. Gives much more clearance. Also buy some wobble extensions at HF.

I'll definitely cut out the stupid heat shielding. It's completely shot and polished the driveshaft pretty good haha.

I think it's one of the best M cars ever built, dare I say (flame suit on) better than a e30 m3. I've owned 5 of them. As long as you maintain them correctly (esp the cooling system) they last forever. Also, it was my first car when I was 16 lol.

Let's keep this thread alive. Would love to see more members share their stories and pics of their E36s. I'll kick things off again:

Bottom mount turbo on these is fairly stealthy. Mine does over 600 rwhp SAE Dynojet on pump gas plus meth and I am swapping in a bigger turbo for a little more. It is entertaining though traction can be an issue.

One I wrecked. Another got hit by drunk driver on my street. I traded one for a sedan and sold it after a year. And my first one I kept for a few years. I've had a lot of cars in the last 10 years
E46 m3 A handful of e36 m3s Hummer h2 & h3 Audi A4 E39 M5 E90 325i E92 335i E92 m3 (current) E60 m5 Porsche 944s I also got a 68 Buick wildcat 455 Might be missing a car or two. I get bored of cars quick. Or I sell for profit. Now that I am married my wife won't let me play around as much lol

Amazing chassis, sub-par engine (at least in the US). I wish we got the euro S52, or if I own another one in the future, I'd swap the S54 in.
