My New (to me) car…
Per my other posts, the X5 has now departed. It didn’t go to live on a farm as it turned out that the farmer decided against it. That’s the polite version. And so it (Kenwood) got chopped into BMW for a reasonable trade-in price. As I’d done the deal on the new one already, it was interesting that they increased their purchase offer so as not to lose a sale. Something to consider for the future. I am mostly peeved that I brimmed the tank for the private sale and it’s now going to be AUCd, rather goes against that last-drive-on-vapour routine
Anyhow. With the wife and children quite happy toodling around in the 1 series the X5 became a bit cumbersome for my short drives to town etc. So the next car could be whatever I wanted and having desired an M car since being a boy, it had to be ticked off. I did consider an RS4 if anyone asks. Timing wise, I feel like if one hasn’t had a proper big engined sports car then the next few years are a window of opportunity. With the revised M4 model out now and people starting to worry about their dogs dying from exhaust fumes, the pricing on a good AUC M4 is really very very good for what you get. I'd already decided against buying new again as the X5 was almost pound to mile in depreciation and I wanted to escape the PCP cycle. So, without further back-story here is my San Marino Blue with Opal White interior BMW M4 Competition. Registered in 2017 but having covered just 17k miles and being ‘as new’ in terms of bodywork, interior etc. It is genuinely, surprisingly unmarked both internally and externally, I cannot find a single blemish. I had a few different specs in mind and noticed that SM blue with white leather commanded a premium, so when this cropped up without pictures but with the spec noted, I jumped on it and surprised the dealer. Allegedly they were bombarded with calls for the remainder of the day and had to pull it from the website, so I did well. I won't bore you with the inner details but it has all the tech toys one would wish for - including 'dancing lights' which I really missed when my F30 went back. I’m personally feeling very good about buying a car that’s taken the big hit already. I’ve ticked-off my M Car dream and can now enjoy it. I’ve had some fast cars in the past but this is a step up so I’ll be training myself slowly but surely. I ran into an Evo on the way home and did get slightly drawn in... wow this can really move. I’m over the moon. Last edited by R0B; 03-31-2021 at 07:06 AM.. |

Looks great
The 666m are a bugger to clean though - and miss the lumbar support on the seats! I have silverstone on mine - but would have been equally happy with Opal.... makes it nice and bight inside - and even with a 5 and 2 year old they havent dirtied it (too much) yet! Also for a 17 plate- looks like they have changed the rear lights to shadowlines - which saves you the cost of "upgrading" |

absolutely amazing choice. I am hoping one day in the future when lifestyle permits I can step away from my X5 into an (non suv) M car too.

R0B you dont strike me as a man who wears jeans a lot, but a word to the wise, I moved the son in laws M340iT this afternoon, Opal White and Jeans are clearly not a good combination. I've thrown him the Dr Leather wipes but as his replacement is waiting that might be a job for the dealer....
