Can you elaborate here? Because no matter if I use my OEM lightning cable OR my Bluetooth- I still have to control the damn iPod from my iPhone it seems....

Where are you located? If you in the US, you can buy it from getbmwparts.com or parts.com Just search part number "84212338568" It's 280 as getbmwparts plus whatever shipping.

{edit} noticed your other post a little down. I think you're in germany hence the price difference. My price was for the US. Let me know how the cradle works out lol.

I use my iphone 5 cable to plug in and listen to music, but I can not operate the steering wheel controls for the music on my iphone when plugged in, do you know why? Thanks!
If you can plug in your iphone via your USB port in the CENTER console (6FL option), the steering wheel button will work. Heck stuff will also pop up on the idrive.

I just had mine installed in my BMW for 245,- (in Holland). I will sell the 4S one for 75,- so what's the big deal? Either buy it or don't, I for one am quite pleased with it. If I want cheap I will get a Kia with a Samsung phone 😎

I got it too. Bought it online for EUR222 and installed it myself. Was about $280 on PayPal when converted.

I find these threads complaining about the price being 400 euros to be completely ridiculous. No nobody pays MSRP for anything.

I don't think so...there's no aerial signal processing, as far as I can determine. I'm not sure about the IP5, but previous IPs had some aerial attenuation when the Apple ear phones are connected.

All you are getting with this accessory over a cable is "neatness"

Garage List
It is probably just an oversight, but on all the documentation I've seen, the F30 3 series is not included in the compatibility list. It's about the only car that is left out. Does anyone know for sure that it does work with the F30s?

That's actually pretty good. One of the lower prices I have seen thusfar.

It works with any car that has 6NR features.

I think he said on ebay in Germany or something like that. That might add to the shipping processing time if you don't mind.

I haven't seen it on eBay yet, although I only checked 4 or 5 times.

I'm slightly concerned there might be differences between the American cars and the European ones, for example in coding or electronics. Do we know this is not the case?

1. The iPhone 5 adapter part 84 21 2 338 568 is available for less that EUR 230: http://www.baum-bmwshop24.de/Snap-in...-5-iPhone.html

2. Very important! The iPhone 5 adapter part 84 21 2 338 568 is a prototype, that's why video is not working. It is based on the iPhone 4/4S adapter with an integrated Apple Dock Connector to Lightning adapter:

3. The regular iPhone 5 adapters ("Basic" and "Media") will be available from July 2013.

Thanks to Johannes for this information (-> http://www.f30-forum.de/board1-f30-f...tml#post188019).

BMW makes it so friggin complicated to connect something as simple as a smartphone to their car. It wasn't until recently that you were able to connect an iPhone to the car without having to use an overpriced proprietary cable.

Much cheaper cars and much cheaper phones are able to connect to each other simply with a mini usb cable.

And this snap in adapter that realistically doesn't do anything more than a 2 dollar cable costs 399 euros?!
No kidding. What a rip off. The goddam phone costs slightly more than the $4 piece of plastic that they call a cradle? Come on BMW, do you have to ream us every step of the way?

Is this true? No benefit to the cradle except neatness?

If so, is there a preferred dashboard mount for the F30 (2013 328), with which I can actually see and use the iPhone display, as well as the dashboard screen and all the controls?

Just ordered "iOttie One-Touch Windshield Dashboard Car Mount Holder for iPhone 5 4S 4 ..." from Amazon, for $25 with shipping, what's to lose? But I would prefer one that builds in the iPhone 5 cable, so recommendations would be helpful.

Are we certain there is no antenna connector in the Lightning Connector? I know it's not mentioned on the wiki, but I looked at the pinout for the 30-pin, and I didn't see any pins explicitly defined for the antenna.

Not saying it does, but are we sure?

Too bad I just read this topic. I ordered this adapter in germany, but they didn't tell me it was a prototype.
I can confirm this thing is pretty useless right now. No video playback (already knew that), snap in music function is not working. Even the external antenna seems to be not working. Waste of money.

I see two dashboard mounts:

A suction cup - iOttie One-Touch Windshield Dashboard Car Mount Holder for iPhone 5 4S 4 ..." from Amazon, for $25 with shipping.

and a Proclip mount over the hot air vents, in two pieces for ~$100, which both fixes the cables in place and doesn't block the windshield
http://www.proclipusa.com/?sectionpa...ageid=1&dtype=
http://www.proclipusa.com/?sectionpa...ageid=1&dtype=

Anyone know what's best? I'll probably just get both, and relegate the loser to my other car, if it's the suction cup one.
