Lors du réglage d'une M3 pour une conduite haute performance, un réglage correct de la cambrure et des orteils arrière donnera des résultats significatifs. Les boulons de suspension excentriques d'usine ont une plage de réglage raisonnable pour une variété de hauteurs de roulement et de réglages d'alignement possibles, mais ne sont pas une solution parfaite.

Les boulons excentriques sont ajustés en tournant le boulon à l'intérieur du bras de suspension, ce qui pose deux problèmes majeurs:

La première est que serrer le boulon en place changera inévitablement l'alignement. Lorsque vous tournez l'écrou pour serrer le boulon en position, l'alignement changera légèrement par rapport au réglage prévu, perdant ainsi de la précision.

Le deuxième problème est que lorsque des charges élevées sont appliquées, le boulon aura tendance à glisser de sa position prédéfinie, créant des changements d'alignement pendant que la voiture circule sur la piste de course qui sont frustrants au mieux et imprévisibles et dangereux au pire. Un tel mouvement du boulon excentrique d'usine a été documenté par Fall Line Motorsports dans leurs nombreuses années de course professionnelle.

Les cales rigides permettent à un technicien de régler précisément le carrossage en choisissant l'un des 5 déports de cale à installer dans la suspension arrière. Les cales peuvent être utilisées soit dans l'orientation normale, soit retournées, ce qui donne 9 positions différentes, divisées en incréments de 1 mm. Cela donnera un réglage exact du carrossage et garantira absolument aucun changement d'alignement, même dans les conditions de conduite les plus difficiles.

When setting an M3 for high performance driving, properly setting the rear camber and toe will yield significant results. The factory eccentric suspension bolts have a reasonable amount of adjustment range for a variety of ride heights and possible alignment settings, but are not a perfect solution.

Eccentric bolts are adjusted by rotating the bolt within the suspension arm, which causes two major issues:

The first is that tightening the bolt into place will inevitably change the alignment. As you turn the nut to clamp the bolt into position, alignment will change slightly from the intended setting, losing precision.

The second issue is that as high loads are applied, the bolt will tend to slip from its pre-set position, creating alignment changes while the car is being driven around the race track which are frustrating at best, and unpredictable and dangerous at worst. Such movement of the factory eccentric bolt has been documented by Fall Line Motorsports in their many years of professional racing.

The rigid camber shims will allow a technician to precisely set camber by choosing one of 5 shim offsets to install in the rear suspension. The shims can be used in either the normal orientation, or flipped, resulting in 9 different positions, divided into 1mm increments. This will give an exact camber setting, and ensures absolutely no change in alignment even in the harshest driving conditions.
